  • Publication number: 20250143911
Abstract: An ostomy device includes a base portion and an inflatable member. The portion includes a tubular body extending from a first end to a second end. The portion is sized, shaped, and configured to be received within an opening of an abdominal wall to connect an end of an intestine to the opening of the abdominal wall to form a stoma. The member is coupled to the portion. The member defines a hole extending therethrough. The hole is configured to receive a portion of an intestine proximate the stoma therethrough. In an operative configuration, the member movable between a deflated configuration, in which the stoma is maintained in an open position, and an inflated configuration, in which the member expands to decrease a size of the hole such that a radial inward pressure is applied to a portion of the intestine received therein to close the stoma.

  • Patent number: 12285556
Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems for controlling infusion of one or more supplements into blood received from a patient. The systems include at least one an extracorporeal circulatory support system including a pump, fluid conduits, and at least one a sensor configured to measure one or more parameters of the blood. The system also may include a fluid flow regulator coupled to the extracorporeal circulatory support system. The system receives measurement signals corresponding to parameters of blood from the at least one sensor and determines one or more target values for the parameters of blood based on a patient profile and/or the measurements. The system may control the fluid flow regulator to cause an infusion of at least one supplemental fluid from a supplemental fluid source into the blood.

  • Patent number: 12281362
Abstract: A method of diagnosing the likelihood of recurrence of clear cell renal cell carcinoma is provided. The method involves a) detecting the gene expression signatures of mitochondrial electron transport chain subunits, mitochondrial ribosomal proteins, major histocompatibility complex class II (MHC-II) proteins or combinations thereof in a kidney tumor tissue sample; and b) determining that the subject has an elevated risk of recurrence of clear cell renal cell carcinoma if the gene expression signatures include certain sequences. In another embodiment, the method uses copper levels to diagnose the likelihood of recurrence of clear cell renal cell carcinoma.

  • Publication number: 20250120741
Abstract: An access needle includes a hollow shaft having a lumen sized and shaped to slidably receive a guidewire therein and having a distal end including an angled surface extending proximally and transversely from a sharpened distal-most tip of the shaft to a beveled smoothed area of the shaft proximal and transverse to the sharpened tip. The beveled smoothed area is positioned to slidably engage a guidewire extended distally out the distal end of the needle so that, as the guidewire is retracted proximally into the needle, the beveled smoothed area slidably engages the guidewire to minimize abrasion to the guidewire.

  • Publication number: 20250092315
Abstract: Pitch products produced by systems and processes utilizing coal tar or decant oil for coal or petroleum based pitch are disclosed. Total pitch production yields are increased by heat treating distillate fractions from the pitch production process. A heat treatment system, process and products produced thereby are disclosed. The heaviest distillates having the highest molecular weights are subjected to heat treatment, though other embodiments contemplate heat treating a variety of combined distillate fractions. The heat treatment systems require heat soaking the distillate(s) at elevated temperatures of 459-535° C. at a near-constant temperature with near-uniform flow. A fraction of the heat-treated distillate may be reintroduced to the pitch production system as part of a continuous process.
