  • Publication number: 20160164555
Abstract: A bandpass filter includes a plurality of parallel paths. Each path includes a first mixer, a low-pass filter, and a second mixer. The first mixer in each path receives the input signal and mixes the input signal with a periodic mixer sequence. The low-pass filter in each path is operable to filter an output of the associated first mixer. The second mixer in each path is coupled to receive an output of the associated low-pass filter and mixes said filter output with a periodic mixer sequence having a period that is divided into a plurality of time slots, wherein again the mixer value is constant during each time slot. A summer sums the outputs of the second mixers of each of the paths to generate an output of the bandpass filter.

  • Publication number: 20160162492
Abstract: A mechanism is provided, in a data processing system comprising a processor and a memory configured to implement a question and answer system (QA), for providing confidence rankings based on temporal semantics. Responsive to receiving an input question, a set of candidate answers is identified from a knowledge domain based on a correlation between an identified one or more predicates and an identified one or more arguments to the knowledge domain. A confidence score is associated with each of the candidate answers and each confidence score associated with each candidate answer is refined based on a set of temporal characteristics identified in the input question. A set of temporally refined candidate answers is then provided to the user.

  • Publication number: 20160162519
Abstract: Various systems and methods are provided that retrieve data measured by various sensors associated with a sensor collection site and compress the retrieved data so that the compressed data can be transported to and stored in one or more databases in an efficient manner. The various systems and methods may further retrieve the data stored in the one or more databases and generate an interactive user interface to display the data. While each instance of measured data may include a plurality of parameters, the various systems and methods may flatten the measured data such that information pertaining to each parameter can be displayed in a two-dimensional graph. Features may be extracted from the stored data to identify events that have occurred or that may occur in the future during operation of the sensor collection site such that a user can take appropriate action.

  • Publication number: 20160165487
Abstract: A technique to allow a server such as a location server to throttle concurrent or closely timed location requests for the position of a given wireless device such that within a certain time period preferably only one location request will be initiated to the positioning engine and the remaining closely-timed location requests will be buffered or cached. When a position for the given wireless device is returned per the outstanding location request, then the retrieved position will be used to respond to each of the buffered location requests. Thus, a plurality of location requests are satisfied with a single request to the positioning engine. By optimizing the use of cached position requests, throttling of location requests per the invention reduces network traffic significantly, increases the efficiency of a positioning server (therefore reducing business cost), and provides for an improved grade or quality of location based services in general.

  • Publication number: 20160160565
Abstract: A disclosed mud motor includes a rotor head, a motor block, a hollow rotor, an inlet shaft, and an outlet shaft. In the operation of one embodiment, a pressurized drilling mud enters the rotor head through the inlet shaft. Some or all of the drilling mud is directed through an included inlet passage onto pistons which are included in the motor block and disposed concentrically around the outlet shaft. A downward action of the pistons resulting from the drilling mud causes an included power plate to rotate. Rotation of the power plate causes the hollow rotor and the rotor head to also rotate. The hollow rotor may be attached to a drilling implement. Rotation of the power plate also causes some or all of the drilling mud directed onto the pistons to be discharged into the outlet shaft through an included discharge passage. During the operation of one embodiment of the mud motor, the pistons do not rotate around the outlet shaft, but instead remain substantially in their original concentric alignment.

  • Publication number: 20160164741
Abstract: A method and apparatus that discovers and tests paths in a network is described. In an exemplary embodiment, a device discovers a path by discovering a plurality of equal cost segments between the first and second network elements of the plurality of network elements. The device further generates a plurality of test data packets, wherein each of the test data packets has a different characteristic. In addition, the device injects the plurality of test data packets in the first network element such that the first network element transmits the plurality of test data packets to the second network element using the plurality of equal cost segments. The device additionally determines a path for each of the plurality of test data packets by recording which of the plurality of equal cost segments the first network element used to transmit that test data packet.
