  • Patent number: 8448345
Abstract: A hair measuring assembly capable of being operated by a single hand of a user and including a collection assembly, including a hair retaining and measuring portion movably mounted on a body and selectively disposable between a collecting position and a retaining and measuring position. The single handed manipulation of a hand grip, concurrently disposes a plurality of two grip segments into either an open or a closed orientation, thereby forcing the hair retaining and measuring portion between the collecting and hair retaining and measuring positions. A “single use” cartridge for carrying out the collection, retention and measurement of hair and also hair breakage is presented. The “single use” cartridge includes suitable structure for mounting and operable attachment to the hair measuring assembly by a person, without regard to whether he or she is left-handed or right-handed.

  • Publication number: 20130105643
Abstract: A stationary base with at least two door shrouds extending from a tower portion. The tower portion has at least one groove communicating with a groove guide. An actuating housing is attached to the groove guide and connected to at least one force member positioned between the base and the actuating housing. At least one containment door is positioned in a door groove adjacent each door shroud. Each containment door communicates with the actuating housing with at least one guide pin positioned in a guide slot of each containment door, the guide slot being angled at a predetermined angle to translate vertical movement of the actuating housing to horizontal movement of each containment door.

  • Publication number: 20130025180
Abstract: A security box for a fishing rods and equipment is provided. The security box comprises four sidewalls, a bottom, and a hingedly attached lid. The lid lockably secures to a sidewall to prevent unauthorized access to the box's contents. Along the bottom of the box are a number of mounting holes and associated fasteners, so that the box can be removably secured to a large object like a boat or truck. Access to the mounting means is only available from within the box to keep thieves from stealing the box and its contents. A tackle box holder is disposed within the box to stop a tackle box from sliding around within the security box. Also provided is a set of cushioned inserts that protect the shafts of different styles of fishing rods and prevent them from banging into the walls of the box while the device is in transit.

  • Publication number: 20110161174
Abstract: A system for locating, segmenting, annotating and retrieving multimedia files, provides a database of metadata (68) relating to multimedia files (70), a database manager (64), and a database client (66) for accessing the data contained within the database. The database client (66), together with the metadata database (68) and database manager (64) provide a variety of different functionalities, namely a deep linking functionality, a segmentation functionality, a metadata annotation functionality, a retrieval functionality, and an access functionality. The user, through database client (68) annotates the multimedia file or segment of multimedia file with metadata which is saved in the database (68). When the user desires to locate a multimedia file, the metadata is searched or browsed to locate the database entry associated with the multimedia file in question.

  • Patent number: 7537804
Abstract: In some embodiments, the invention may include utilization of at least one iteration of an ALD pulse sequence that has the pulse subsets M2-M1-R- and M1-(R-M2-)x: where x is at least 2; where M1 is a first metal-containing precursor comprising a first metal, M2 is a second metal-containing precursor comprising a second metal different from the first metal, and R is a reactant which reacts with one or both of the first and second metals. The ALD pulse sequence forms material over a substrate, and such material includes the first and second metals. The hyphen between pulses means that the second pulse directly follows the first pulse, with the term “directly follows” indicating that the second pulse either immediately follows the first pulse or that only a purge separates the first and second pulses.

  • Patent number: 6996983
Abstract: A rotary Stirling-type engine (100) having a heat chamber (105) with a compressing turbine (107) at one end and a valve assembly (108) through which gas enters the heat chamber (105). At the order end is a nozzle housing (109) for gas exit. A shaft (110) extends from the turbine (107) and is mounted in a bearing (111). Another shaft (112) extends from the nozzle housing (109), mounted in bearing (113). A rotor flywheel (114) is also mounted on shaft (110) and fixed in place by socket pin (115). The engine also contains insulating jacket (120), regenerating a housing (122) and a heat sink (126). In the engine, gas is compressed by the turbine (107) until it opens valve (108). The passes through and expands in the heat chamber where it receives heat radiation (eg. Solar) through a glass window (121). The gas cannot escape back through the valve (108) but rather through two circumferentially mounted nozzle adjusters, spinning the whole central assembly, including the compressing turbine (107), as it escapes.

  • Patent number: 6942394
Abstract: A race for a bearing, which is mountable to a mount, has an annular bearing surface with a center axis defining an axis of rotation for the bearing and mutually perpendicular radial and transverse directions relative thereto. The race also has a radial wall that is adapted for mounting the race to the mount in a manner such that a bearing transfer load is transferred between the mount and the race in the transverse direction and the race bearing surface maintains its substantially annular shape independently of a load applied to the mount causing distortion of the mount when the race is mounted to the mount and the mount is loaded.
