Publication number: 20030002840Abstract: A bond clamp assembly for a mini fiber-optic metallic conduit employs a pair of cooperative jaws. The jaws are configured so that a wide range of mini fiber-optic conduits may be received therein and clamped in a stable clamp configuration. In one embodiment, one of the jaws is defined by a concave surface of a retainer plate which connects with flexible conductor. In another embodiment two clamp members are slidably engaged by a cylindrical tongue and groove arrangement of the two clamp members.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 29, 2001Publication date: January 2, 2003Applicant: Electric Motion Company, Inc.Inventor: John W. Patent number: 6325678Abstract: An electrical clamp connector for clamping ground conductors employs interconnecting male and female clamp sections having integrally extending jaws. The male clamp section forms a tongue which is received in a complementary groove defined by the female clamp section. The jaws include V-shaped holding surfaces and a retaining lip which allow the clamping of conductors of various sizes. The clamp sections are fastened together by a bolt passing through the female clamp section to threadably engage the male clamp section whereby the jaws are drawn together, clamping conductors received therein.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2000Date of Patent: December 4, 2001Assignee: Electric Motion Company, Inc.Inventor: John W. Patent number: 6230406Abstract: A flexible bond harness including a flexible ground subassembly and a rigid ground subassembly which are joined together by a barrel connector. The flexible ground assembly has a first terminal connector which is mounted to the distal end portion of a substantially flexible conductor and the rigid ground assembly has a second terminal connector which is mounted to the distal end portion of a substantially rigid conductor. The barrel connector has a substantially uniform thickness, first and second side walls, a base and is divided into first and second segments. The proximal end portion of the flexible conductor is positioned within the first segment and the proximal end portion of the rigid conductor is positioned within the second segment. The first and second segments of the barrel connector are simultaneously crimped onto the flexible and rigid conductors, respectively, forming a bond which prevents relative motion between the barrel connector and the flexible and rigid conductors.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 1999Date of Patent: May 15, 2001Assignee: Electric Motion Company, Inc.Inventors: William J. Patent number: 6111193Abstract: A mast clamp assembly including a strap, a drop wire clamp, and a hook. The ribbon-like strap forms a loop which engages a utility pole or mast. The drop wire clamp includes a clamp for clamping to the drop wire and a loop which engages the hook. The hook includes a back wall and first and second side walls. The loop of the drop wire is received in loop mounting slots in the side walls and engages a protrusion on each side wall. Each side wall also has a strap mounting opening having a triangular-shaped lower portion and a rectangular-shaped upper portion. The hook is mounted on the strap by inserting the strap, bottom edge first, through a slot in the back wall into the lower portion of the strap mounting openings and rotating the hook around the strap such that the upper edge of the strap rotates into the upper portion of the strap mounting opening and the strap engages the hook back wall.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 1998Date of Patent: August 29, 2000Assignee: Electric Motion Company, Inc.Inventors: William T. Auclair, John W. Auclair, William J. Balfour

Patent number: 5954547Abstract: A ground clamp for clamping to a cable shield to provide a ground connection employs a yoke member having a U-shaped yoke section, a rigid ground section and a strain relief section. The yoke member is molded as an integral unit, eliminating all machining/stamping operations from its manufacture. A relatively inexpensive zinc alloy is used in the manufacture of the yoke member, eliminating the use of relatively expensive bronze and copper. A keeper has a driver which threadably engages thread surfaces at the interior side of the yoke legs. The keeper has a clamp jaw which may be compressively engaged against a cable shield received in an aperture defined by the yoke. Electrical tape, tie-wraps, or similar devices mechanically connect the strain relief section of the yoke member to the cable outer jacket to relieve strain on the cable conductive sheath.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1997Date of Patent: September 21, 1999Assignee: Electric Motion Company, Inc.Inventor: John W. Patent number: 5823804Abstract: A connector for clamping to a cable shield to provide a ground connection employs a U-shaped yoke. A keeper threadably engages thread surfaces at the interior side of the yoke legs. A clamp jaw on the keeper is compressively engaged against a cable shield received in an aperture defined by the yoke. The yoke connects to a flexible ground wire via a spark gap assembly. An electrically conductive boss extends from the yoke into one end of a bore in an electrically non-conductive separator member. The ground wire is mounted to the separator member by an electrically conductive fastener that extends into the other end of the bore of the separator member. The distal ends of the boss and the fastener are separated by a spark gap. The distal end of an electrically conductive bridging member is positionable in the separator member to engage the distal end portions of the boss and the fastener to bridge the spark gap and provide electrical communication therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1997Date of Patent: October 20, 1998Assignee: Electric Motion Company, Inc.Inventor: John W. Patent number: 5722840Abstract: A ground clamp for clamping to a cable shield to provide a ground connection employs a U-shaped yoke. A keeper has a driver which threadably engages thread surfaces at the interior side of the yoke legs. The keeper has a clamp jaw which may be compressively engaged against a cable shield received in an aperture defined by the yoke. A surface of the clamp jaw and a surface of the driver have complementary radially extending projections and grooves, respectively. The projections are received by the grooves when the clamp jaw engages the cable shield to resist relative movement between the driver and the clamp jaw. The yoke then connects to a common ground point via a flexible ground wire connection. A protective shoe may be inserted between the cable conductors and the clamp jaw to prevent crushing of the connectors.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 1996Date of Patent: March 3, 1998Assignee: Electric Motion Company, Inc.Inventors: William T. Auclair, John W. Auclair, Randolph L. Auclair

Patent number: 5679032Abstract: A ground clamp for clamping to a cable shield to provide a round connection employs a U-shaped yoke. A keeper has a driver which threadably engages thread surfaces at the interior side of the yoke legs. The keeper has a clamp jaw which may be compressively engaged against a cable shield received in an aperture defined by the yoke. The yoke connects to a common ground point via a ground connector member. The ground connector member has a grounding portion which may comprise a flexible ground connector or a rigid conductive plate. A bracing portion of the ground connector member is connected to the grounding portion by a ramp portion which projects laterally towards the cable. The bracing portion includes two arms which project laterally from a center connector portion. The connector portion and arms define a horseshoe-shaped stress relief clamp which may be crimped into engagement with the cable to mechanically connect the ground clamp with the cable outer jacket.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1995Date of Patent: October 21, 1997Assignee: Electric Motion Company, Inc.Inventor: John W. Patent number: 5131856Abstract: A universal ground clamp is employed for clamping to a ground electrode such as a conduit, a pipe or a rod by means of a clamp strap. The ground wire is secured by means of a set screw in an aperture of a head which extends from a threaded shank. A platen, which has a convex bowed surface, is retained against rotation by retainer flanges of a contact member. The platen is clamped against the strap to secure the ground clamp in position. The clamp may be mounted and the ground wire secured by applying a torque from one side of the ground clamp.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1991Date of Patent: July 21, 1992Assignee: Electric Motion Company, IncorporatedInventor: John W.
