  • Patent number: 11834338
Abstract: Continuous thermolysis of carbonaceous matter in a controlled temperature and steam environment to produce a low volatility char, with subsequent steam activation of the char under pressure producing activated carbon and pressurized syn-gas, all of which are carried out in a reactor system including one or more vessels. The syn-gas is enriched in hydrogen in a high temperature shift reactor and separated in a pressurized swing adsorber to provide a pressurized pure hydrogen stream and a low-pressure combustible tail gas. The tail gas and the volatiles from the thermolysis step are combusted to provide process steam and electric power. The electric power is used to supplement the thermal requirements of the process with the balance being exported.

  • Patent number: 6142963
Abstract: A vibrating baby blanket is disclosed, comprising a traditional baby blanket. Located inside of the blanket is a vibrating mechanism, the approximate size of an adult's outstretched hand, which produces vibrations to simulate the patting of a parent on a child's back. The vibrating mechanism is adjustable in frequency and intensity. The blanket is decoratively adorned, and plays music via an electronic music box, located inside of a control unit. The control unit and vibrating mechanism are located inside of a pocket on the blanket, thus permitting them to be removed when the blanket needs washing. Power is supplied by a detachable power cord and direct current power supply, as well as a rechargeable batteries. A portable pad is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5855397
Abstract: An improved sealable connector has a geometry which effects reliable sealing upon assembly. The connector is useful, for example, for connecting a pressure sensor to a fuel pump accumulator in a fuel injection system. The connector includes a male member, a female member, and an annular seal disc which compressibly seats between the male and female members. The male member has a tip with a flat annulus at an innermost radius surrounding a fluid-delivery bore. A frustoconical section of the tip extends radially outwardly from the annulus, sloping away from the plane of the annulus at about 5.degree.-15.degree., for example. The female member has a cavity shaped to receive the male member, the cavity having a bottom defined by a flat annular seat surrounding another fluid-delivery bore. The seal disc is compressed between the flat seat of the female cavity and the planar/frustoconical tip of the male member.

  • Patent number: 5775203
Abstract: A high pressure fuel pump unit and assembly is provided which includes a pump barrel containing a bore, a pump plunger mounted in the bore for reciprocal movement between an advanced position and a retracted position, and a force transmitting device for transmitting axial loads to the plunger while minimizing side loads on the plunger. The force transmitting device includes an extension member extending into the inner radial extent of a bias spring and including a distal supporting end positioned in uncoupled abutment against a driven end of the pump plunger to form a decoupled force transmitting interface. The pump plunger and extension member are capable of relative lateral movement at the decoupled force transmitting interface which is positioned a spaced axial distance from the outer end of the pump barrel when the pump plunger is in the advanced position.

  • Patent number: 5305819
Abstract: A method by which many identical wooden necks for solid-body electric guitars are manufactured, these being of the conventional type wherein the inner neck ends are connected to the solid bodies by screws. Edge regions of the undersides of at least some of the necks are then routed-out to form a tongue on each routed neck, the tongue extending longitudinally of the neck. Solid wooden bodies are provided for the routed necks, and there are formed in such bodies tongue pockets that correspond generally to the tongues and are shaped to receive them. The tongues are then mounted in the respective tongue pockets and adhesively secured there.

  • Patent number: 5125343
Abstract: A decelerator device for stopping a high energy projectile, including an elongated tube of a predetermined length and having an inlet and a terminal end to define an axial path for the projectile. The device includes a piston for moving on the axial path and having a cone shaped leading edge. Further included is a fluid container for filling the tube with a fluid to be displaced by movement of the piston through the tube and for collecting the displaced fluid as it is displaced. Also included in the tube are a plurality of port like slots for displacing fluid from the tube radially as the projectile enters the tube. The ports located proximate the inlet portion of the tube are of larger area, and become progressively smaller toward the terminal end.

  • Patent number: 5125311
Abstract: A set-neck guitar in which the inner neck end has a tongue that seats in and is glued in a pocket in the body and in a protuberance on the body. Corresponding sidewalls of the tongue and pocket are parallel to the center line of the body, while other sidewalls are at an angle thereto so as to create a wedge relationship. A cam and bearing element is provided to force the wedge surfaces together and improve the connection. The underside of the protuberance on the body is carved back, as is part of the neck, to create a generally integral-seeming joint. Crush points are provided to facilitate the operation and enhance esthetics.

  • Patent number: 4968325
Abstract: There are disclosed a process and a plant for gasifying biomass. The plant has a pressure vessel containing a hot fluidized sand bed. The bio-mass is pre-dried to a moisture content of from 10% to 35% by weight. A steam-free oxygen-containing gas is fed and distributed, through a grid system at the bottom of the hot sand bed, to hold the bed in a fluidized state and to form, in its lower portion, an oxygen-rich heat-forming combustion zone and, in its upper portion, a hydrogen-rich gas-forming pyrolysis zone. The pre-dried biomass is uninterruptedly fed in the pyrolysis zone at essentially the center of the hot fluidized bed, this center being determined when the sand bed stands at rest. The fluidized bed is held at an operating temperature of 750.degree. to 860.degree. C. under an operating pressure of 400 kPa to 1750 kPa by controlling the feeding rate of the fluidized gas as well as the feeding rate of the biomass.
