  • Patent number: 9876864
Abstract: In one implementation, an access point includes a wireless communications interface, a service discovery module in communication with the wireless communications interface, and a forwarding module. The service discovery module is to receive a service discovery message, to identify a service discovery announcement within the service discovery message, and to determine whether the service discovery announcement is allowed by a service filter. The forwarding module is to forward a portion of the service discovery message including the service discovery announcement if the service discovery announcement is allowed by the service filter and to drop the portion of the service discovery message including the service discovery announcement if the service discovery announcement is not allowed by the service filter.

  • Patent number: 8416701
Abstract: A system and method for updating forwarding tables in a blade packet manager is provided. The blade packet manager may include master and slave blades. A master management module on the master blade monitors the slave blades. Network address entry forwarding tables are maintained on the slave blades. A periodic sweep of slave blades for activity information is performed and reports are forwarded to the master blade. The master blade propagates the reported information from the master blade to each of the slave blades to update forwarding tables on each of the slave blades.

  • Publication number: 20090073990
Abstract: An apparatus and method of replacing a router in a Layer 3 network, includes configuring a new router to accept a data packet having, as a destination address field, a first media access control address of a replaced router. The method further comprises setting the destination address field of the data packet to the MAC address of the new router, and forwarding the data packet. A router performing the above method comprises configuration logic to configure the router to accept a data packet having, as a destination address, a media access control address of a replaced L3 device; and keep-alive logic adapted to periodically transmit a keep-alive packet to an allocated destination address. The router further comprises packet processing logic that accepts the received data packet, sets the destination address of the data packet to the MAC address associated with the router, and forwards the packet to a destination host.

  • Patent number: 7487255
Abstract: One embodiment disclosed relates to an apparatus for routing packets towards destination addresses. The apparatus includes at least a routing table and a route fragment cache. Each route in the routing table includes a network address, a mask, and a corresponding forwarding information. Each route fragment in the route fragment cache includes a section of a route from the routing table. The route fragments are such that no route fragment in the route fragment cache intersects any route in the routing table that is more specific than the route from which that fragment was generated.
