  • Patent number: 10921274
Abstract: The apparatus includes a sensor having a multi-portion dielectric composite. A microstrip transmission line is formed on the dielectric composite and includes an input section, radiator portion, and an output section. The dielectric material adjacent the radiator portion is selected to substantially match that of the certain portions of a live organism being sensed, allowing other constituents of the organism to be sensed. This allow the radiator portion to effectively respond as if it were embedded inside the organism, removing substantial uncertainly from the measurement process. By then applying a plurality of signals to the sensor, the reflected and transmitted components of the signal can be measured and used to determine the amount of certain constituents are present in the organism.

  • Patent number: 8321759
Abstract: A method and apparatus for distributing dynamically reconfigurable content to a mobile device is provided. One embodiment of a method for encoding a data stream to enable error correction by a receiver of the data stream includes storing a block of the data stream in a first memory array, processing the first memory array to produce a second memory array, inverting the second memory array, and storing the second memory array, as inverted, as a third memory array.

  • Publication number: 20120288627
Abstract: In certain embodiments, a method may include a computing device generating a digital representation of a metamaterial structure and sectioning the digital representation to generate a plurality of substantially two-dimensional layer layouts. The method may also include a printing device sequentially fabricating each of a plurality of substantially two-dimensional layers based on a corresponding one of the plurality of substantially two-dimensional layer layouts.

  • Patent number: 6615549
Abstract: Disclosed is a mobile double decked vehicular performance stage which is equipped with a variety of safety devices for use in transporting steel orchestra players and instruments during live performances in parades, carnivals and other events in which the musicians are required to continue to play their instruments while moving along with the crowd. In practice, the stage comprises two identically sized platform surfaces, the lower surface or deck rests on ground engaging wheels and includes steering, brake and tow bar mechanisms to facilitate the movement of the stage. The upper deck is situated above the lower deck in elevated parallel alignment with the lower deck and is secured and maintained in that position by supports which are between the upper and lower decks. Both the upper and lower decks are equipped with safety devices to protect the musicians from injury while the vehicle is in motion, as well as musical stands for holding the musical instruments in place on the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4244828
Abstract: An alkenethiophosphonic acid reaction product prepared by reacting an alkenethiophosphonic acid in which the alkene radical has a molecular weight in the range of 400 to 20,000 with a hydroxyalkyl carboxylic acid to form an intermediate reaction product, and reacting said intermediate reaction product with a polyamine, a polyol, or an alkanolamine to form said reaction product, and a lubricating oil composition containing said reaction product.

  • Patent number: 3947261
Abstract: Ammonium polyphosphate is produced in a pipe reactor by injecting a stream of ammonia countercurrent to superphosphoric acid passed axially through the reaction zone to cause vigorous backmixing of the two reactants and yield a melt of ammonium polyphosphate, and cooling the sidewalls of the pipe reactor sufficiently to form a layer of ammonium polyphosphate melt thereon to prevent formation of insoluble scale on the interior of the reactor. The resulting ammonium polyphosphate melt is then dissolved in recycled aqueous ammonium polyphosphate product solution and thereafter further diluted with water to form the product solution. In specific embodiments, minor but effective amounts of urea are added to the acid feed to diminish the tendency of insoluble scale from forming on the interior of the reaction zone, and to improve the stability and conversion of the product solution.
