Abstract: An amine salt of N-triazolyl-hydrocarbyl succinamic acid represented by the formula: ##STR1## in which R"" is an alkylene radical having from 2 to 24 carbon atoms and R'" is hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl radical having from 1 to 24 carbon atoms at least one R'" being a hydrocarbyl radical and a lubricating oil composition containing same is provided.

Abstract: A rust inhibitor comprising the reaction product of a hydrocarbylsuccinic anhydride in which the hydrocarbyl radical has from about 6 to 30 carbon atoms and an aminotriazole is provided. The rust inhibitor is effective in motor fuel and lubricating oil compositions.

Abstract: Synthetic lubricating oil composition comprising a major portion of an aliphatic ester base oil having lubricating properties formed from the reaction of a pentaerythritol or trimethylolpropane and an organic monocarboxylic acid containing (a) from about 0.01 to 0.5 percent of a substituted 4-aminotriazole; (b) from about 0.3 to 5 percent of an alkyl or alkaryl phenylnaphthylamine; (c) from about 0.3 to 5 percent of a dialkyldiphenylamine; and (d) from about 0.25 to 10 percent of a hydrocarbyl phosphate ester.

Abstract: Disclosed are synthetic lubricating oil compositions for turbine engines containing a major amount of aliphatic carboxylic acid esters having lubricating properties whose pour points are depressed by the incorporation of a synergistic mixture of minor amounts of at least one mineral oil with a methacrylic pour point depressant.

Abstract: A method of producing an alkyl amine salt of thiocyanic acid having enhanced load-carrying properties when employed in synthetic ester lubricating oils comprising contacting an alkyl amine with ammonium thiocyanate or monoalkyl ammonium thiocyanate at an elevated temperature while continuously blowing the reaction mixture with an oxygen containing gas and recovering the formed alkyl ammonium thiocyanate salt, the oxygen containing gas being introduced into the reaction mixture in a total amount of between about 0.2 and 5.0 moles per equivalent weight of amine; and synthetic ester oil compositions containing a load-carrying additive amount of the alkyl ammonium thiocyanate prepared by said method.
