    Abstract: Methods may be provided to control an electro-permanent magnetic device powered from an AC mains power source provided through first and second power lines of a controller, wherein a first switch is provided on the first power line between the AC mains power source and the electro-permanent magnetic device and a second switch is provided on the second power line between the AC main power source and the electro-permanent magnetic device. In particular, a sequence of switching pulses may be transmitted through the first and second switches to change a magnetic state of the electro-permanent magnetic device. Related controllers are also discussed.

The face sheets (14) formed from flat sheet material and include a pattern of openings for attachment of the joints on the stringers (16). The geometry of the openings matching the geometry of the joints on the stringers (16). The assembled unit is formed by inserting each joint on a stringer (16) through its corresponding opening in a face sheet (14) and then bonding the joint to the face sheet (14).

    Abstract: The Boiler Automated Welding System (BAWS) is an automatic welding system for repair of worn boiler tubes in cyclone boilers. Repair of these tubes is essential for extending the life of this component used within electrical power plants. The BAWS utilizes: 1) a multiaxis positioner which forms the required cylindrical coordinate motion system, 2) a tube tracking systems for determination of motion paths during welding, 3) a two axis gimbaled welding torch holder for orientation of the welds relative to the motion path, 4) an integrated welding system and 5) a computer controller which coordinates these devices in a logical method. The BAWS multiaxis positioner allows for orientation of the system within the cyclone boiler to take advantage of the symmetry of the tube layout (cylindrical coordinates). The positioner allows each individual tube to be scanned and a weld path determined using a laser scanning device.

    Abstract: An air driven lottery game comprised of a control box having at least one opening formed therein. The openings are fitted with a rubber stopping mechanism. The control box has an electrical plug or a battery compartment extending outwardly therefrom. A side surface of the control box has a vent formed therein. The device contains at least one ball dispenser. The ball dispenser has a cylindrical configuration. The ball dispenser is adapted for removably coupling within the opening in the control box. The ball dispenser holds a plurality of lottery balls therein. At least one ball display container is secured to the ball dispenser adapted to receive one of the plurality of lottery balls therethrough. An electric or battery operated fan is secured within the control box inwardly of the vent in the side surface thereof. The electric or battery operated fan is electrically coupled with the electric plug or with batteries.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for measuring cutting forces associated with a machine tool. A force transducer plate forms a part of a bolted joint within the machine tool structure and is positioned within a direct force path. Raised force shunting pads are formed on both sides of the plate thereby limiting the load transfer area of the plate. At least one three-axis load cell is mounted closely adjacent one force shunting pad and elevated relative to the pad such that an acceptable pre-load is maintained on the load cell. By strategically placing the load cell closely adjacent the force shunting pad and utilizing the force shunting pads to transfer the majority of loads through the plate, hysteresis is minimized, linearity optimized, and the load cell protected from overload.
