  • Patent number: 4842938
Abstract: A method for making a one package heat curable (i.e. thermosetting) composition which, on heating, forms a urethane/epoxy/silicone interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) system; one package heat curable compositions made by such a method; metal reinforcing patches, directly adherent to an oily metal surface such as an oily steel surface, comprising a sheet-like carrier having thereon such a one package heat curable composition in combination with a filler admixed therewith, said filler possibly including magnetic particles; a method for reinforcing metal which comprises applying thereto such a metal reinforcing patch and curing said heat curable composition at an elevated temperature to form a urethane/epoxy/silicone interpenetrating polymer network.

  • Patent number: 4803105
Abstract: A reinforcing sheet adaptable to the reinforcement of a panel formed of metal, plastic or sheet molding compound, which reinforcing sheet contains a moisture impermeable barrier embedded in a thermosetting adhesive layer and a reinforcement adhered to the surface of the adhesive layer opposite the surface to be applied to the panel to be reinforced. The reinforcing sheet with improved resistance to the adverse effects of moisture is advantageously used to reinforce cold rolled steel, such as an automobile panel.

Inventors: Robert P. Kretow, John W. Powers
  • Patent number: 4614425
Abstract: A method of and apparatus for exposing boards which are photosensitive on both sides, for production of printed circuits on both sides, to light through films on both sides in which a lower film, a board, and an upper film in registered position on a light-transmitting platen are pressed down by a window and exposed to light on both sides through the platen and window, the window, gripping the upper film, is raised, the exposed board is removed, another board to be exposed is applied to the lower film on the platen, the window is lowered to apply the upper film to the new board, and the procedure repeated.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: September 30, 1986
Assignee: Western Litho Plate & Supply Co.
Inventors: Harry J. Copeland, John W. Powers
  • Patent number: 4575235
Abstract: An apparatus for and method of exposing lithographic plates to light through films in which plates are brought into an exposure station for exposure alternately on first and second platens, each movable from a loading position outside the exposure station to an exposure position.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 8, 1984
Date of Patent: March 11, 1986
Assignee: Western Litho Plate & Supply Co.

  • Patent number: 4575233
Abstract: An apparatus for exposing boards which are photosensitive on both sides, for production of printed circuits on both sides, to light through films on both sides in which a lower film, a board, and an upper film in registered position on a light-transmitting platen are pressed down by a window and exposed to light on both sides through the platen and window. A pair of registration pins are adjustably positioned in spaced relation along an edge of the platen and corresponding holes in the boards are used to align the boards and films for exposure. The pins are spaced as widely apart as possible to provide maximum registration between boards of varying sizes and films.

  • Patent number: 4423955
Abstract: Apparatus for exposing lithographic plates to light through a film, e.g. a negative, adapted for exposing one plate to light through a film or a plurality of plates to light through a film, having a first carriage with vacuum grippers for picking up a plate and a negative from each of two side-by-side plate stacks and two side-by-side negative stacks, the carriage being adapted to carry the picked-up plates and negatives to an exposure station and deposit them in registration on a platen at the exposure station for exposure of the plates to light through the negatives and through a window movable up and down at the exposure station, the window having vacuum grooves for raising the negatives, the apparatus further having a second carriage with vacuum grippers for gripping the plates exposed at the exposure station and negatives raised with the window and carrying the exposed plates and the films away from the platen and the window and out of the exposure station.

  • Patent number: 4351883
Abstract: The subject invention relates to compositions of matter for treating aluminum surfaces for rendering them tarnish and corrosive resistant. The compositions comprise an alkali metal silicate including sodium and potassium and lithium silicates and a soluble organic polymer having displaceable hydrogens or displaced hydrogens. The organic polymers having displaceable hydrogens may be derived from hydroxyls, carboxylic acids, amides, sulfonic acids, carbohydrates, and phosphoric acids. The composition may be readily applied by spraying or dipping them in concentration less than about 5% in an aqueous system.

Date of Patent: September 28, 1982
    Assignee: Ball Corporation
