The assembly includes a pair of ear guards each consisting of a resilient semi-rigid shell having a cup shaped center section and a peripheral outer flange, a plurality of strap attachments, an outer partially compressed foam pad corresponding to the shape and size of the shell and having a plurality of raised areas, an inner foam ring corresponding substantially to the outer flange of the shell and a molded flexible outer cover substantially covering the foam pads and having openings corresponding to the raised areas of the outer foam pad whereby those raised areas protrude through the outer skin cover.
