  • Patent number: 6742816
Abstract: A threaded pipe flange and piping system utilizing the same. The threaded pipe flange includes a base portion having a predetermined shape and at least two openings dimensioned to accept at least two mounting bolts. A shoulder portion extends from, and is integral to, the base portion and includes at least two substantially flat gripping surfaces that allow the flange to be attached using an open end wrench, adjustable wrench or pipe wrench. A threaded opening extends through the base portion and the shoulder portion and is sized to mate with the threaded pipe to which the flange is to be attached. In operation, the pipe flange is attached to the predetermined threaded pipe by aligning the threaded opening with the predetermined threaded pipe, gripping the gripping surfaces of the shoulder portion, and rotating the pipe flange until the flange is tight.

  • Patent number: 6283157
Abstract: A sweat flange, piping system utilizing the same, and method of installing a circulator to a copper pipe. The sweat flange includes a base portion having a predetermined shape and at least two bolt openings dimensioned to accept at least two mounting bolts. A shoulder portion extends from the base portion and includes a substantially circular pipe opening that extends through the base portion and the shoulder portion. The pipe opening includes a first portion dimensioned to accept the pipe and a second portion of decreased diameter in order to limit the travel of the pipe through the opening. The sweat flange is attached to the pipe by inserting the pipe into the pipe opening of the flange and soldering the two together using art recognized soldering techniques. The piping system includes at least one pipe, a sweat, a pair of mounting bolts and a circulator or other pump.

  • Patent number: 5839331
Abstract: A flange tightening tool for use in securing a flange to a pipe. The tool has a base plate, a tightening hexagonal shoulder, two attachment openings, two quick release disconnect mechanisms and a rotating handle perpendicular to the tightening base plate. The hexagonal shoulder enables the tool to be used with a companion light weight wrench. The tool can also be used with an open end wrench or an adjustable wrench. A rotatable handle is attached to the hexagonal shoulder such that said handle is perpendicular to the face of a flange that is to be tightened and can be used to hold the tool against the flange. When the quick release disconnect mechanisms are depressed about the pivot pin the quick release disconnect mechanism detracts from the mounting members releasing the mounting member separating the base plate and the flange. The tool prevents over tightening since the flange cannot be tightened past the point where the pipe contacts the base plate.
