  • Patent number: 9487304
Abstract: A system, device, and method for generating at least one advisory presentable on one or more presentation units are disclosed, where the advisory may draw an operator's attention to future turns of the vehicle such as, but not limited to, an aircraft. An advisory generator (“AG”) may be configured to receive navigation data; receive feature data representative of one or more edges associated with the designated surface and location/coordinate information associated with one or more nodes of each edge; generate an advisory data set representative of one or more first distances in response to the determination; and provide the advisory data set to the presentation system. The designated surface could include a landing runway, a takeoff runway, and/or a current surface upon which the vehicle operates. One first distance may be a shortest distance (i.e., a distance to the closest intersection).

  • Patent number: 9222800
Abstract: Present novel and non-trivial system, device, and method for presenting taxi information to a pilot are disclosed. A processor receives aircraft taxi information; retrieves navigation reference and object data; generates an image data set as a function of the aircraft taxi information data and the navigation reference and object data; and provides the image data set to a display system. The image data set could be representative of an image in which one or more first location highlighters highlight the location(s) of one or more raised surface features that appear within an egocentric, perspective scene outside the aircraft. The one raised surface feature could be comprised of a raised surface boundary or a raised surface centerline. In an additional embodiment, the image could include one or more second location highlighters highlighting the location(s) of one or more raised surface transition features.

  • Patent number: 8694237
Abstract: Present novel and non-trivial system, apparatus, and method for generating airport hot spot information system are disclosed. A navigation data source and an airport surface data source provide navigation data and airport surface data to a hot spot information generator (“HSIG”). The hot spot data is representative of locations of vertices corresponding to at least one airport hot spot. The HSIG determines the distance between ownship and each vertex of the vertices, and generates advisory alert data if a threshold advisory parameter has been breached; the threshold advisory parameter is a threshold advisory distance and/or a threshold advisory time, and both are configurable by a manufacturer and/or an end-user. The advisory alert data is provided to a presentation system in which a visual alert and/or an aural alert is presented to the pilot on a visual display unit and/or through an aural alert unit.
