  • Patent number: 5713813
Abstract: A trans-planetary mechanical torque impeller utilizes at least two sets of input planetary pinion gears of differing sizes, which are supported by a planetary carrier. These input planetary pinion gears rotate with respect to primary and secondary annulus gears which, in turn, drive bevel gears which engage a differential pinion gear to drive an output shaft. The output shaft load causes the torque impeller to automatically vary its gear ratio to match the input shaft or motor power output capability to the output shaft load.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 18, 1996
Date of Patent: February 3, 1998
    Inventor: John W. von Greyerz
  • Patent number: 5059163
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a new concept in torque-type propulsion through a totally mechanical, self governing, low to high gear, trans-planetary torque impeller capable of infinitely and automatically matching the input shaft or motor power output capability to the output shaft load.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 15, 1990
Date of Patent: October 22, 1991
    Inventor: John W. von Greyerz
  • Patent number: 4016778
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to an improved transmission providing a substantially infinite motor to drive axel gear ratio capable of automatically adjusting itself under a wide variety of conditions. The transmission of this invention is comprised of three distinct operational units, the torque converter or fluid drive, the worm drive unit and the gear box unit. The transmission while in drive, is capable of providing substantially an extreme low motor to rear wheel ratio which can vary through any ratio necessary under particular driving conditions up to approximately a 1-to-1 ratio.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 4, 1975
Date of Patent: April 12, 1977

  • Patent number: 4016779
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to an improved transmission providing a substantially infinite motor to rear-wheel gear ratio capable of automatically adjusting itself under a wide variety of conditions. The transmission of this invention is comprised of three distinct operational units, the torque converter or fluid drive, the worm drive unit and the gear box unit. The transmission while in drive, is capable of providing a 100 to 1 motor to rear wheel ratio (substantially) and ratio can vary through any ratio necessary under particular driving conditions up to a 1-to-1 ratio.
