  • Patent number: 7090088
Abstract: A combination molded plastic bucket and lid includes a series of outwardly extending ribs on the top edge of the bucket and inwardly extending flanges on a depending outer skirt of the lid which engaged with the bucket ribs to provide a wedging action that holds the lid tightly in a sealing position on the top of the bucket. A zig-zag tear strip permits removal of a portion of the lowermost lid flange. The top of the bucket includes a groove adapted to receive a projection or tongue seal.

  • Patent number: 6880716
Abstract: A molded plastic lid construction employs a peripheral edge section which includes first and second spaced, adjacent, radially discrete hoop sections or depending flanges connected together by a horizontal, annular section. The outermost hoop section or flange includes a projecting horizontal shelf extending partially around the lid. A slot is provided in the shelf for inserting the blade of a tool so that the outer hoop may be elastically deformed to facilitate release of the lid from the rim of a bucket, for example. A lid release flange depends downwardly from the shelf to provide a manual release flange that may also be used to elastically deform and reclose the lid from a bucket.

  • Patent number: 6258306
Abstract: A method for molding by adjusting either the flow area to a constant size mold gate or the area of a variable mold gate opening in order to control the flow of molten plastic to a mold cavity for the injection molding of plastic parts, such adjustment being made by rotating an outer rotary gate bushing relative to an inner stationary hot sprue bushing which is surrounded by said outer rotary gate bushing. Also, a method is disclosed in which the gate operates without closure by means of metal parts. Rather, the frozen molding compound itself serves to close the gate between mold shots.

  • Patent number: 6171094
Abstract: A runner plate for an injection molding system comprises a plate typically having a plurality of corners, and typically apertures extending through the plate for receiving leader pins of the molding system for support of the plate in the molding system. Also at least a pair of outrigger supports may be provided, the outrigger supports being carried by the plate, each at a different position on the plate, and typically extending diagonally outwardly relative to adjacent plate edges. Also the outrigger support may carry rollers which are positioned to engage tie bars of the mold press for rolling contact therewith and support of the system.

  • Patent number: 6106265
Abstract: A molding apparatus comprises a first mold plate positioned between a pair of second mold plates for opening and closing pairs of mold halves. The mold plates carry leader pins which are connected with each other in both the open and the closed position of the molding apparatus, for lateral support of the central first mold plate. Also or alternatively, a mold plate centering system is provided, comprising threaded rods carried by the first, central mold plate and pointing toward the second plates. Internally threaded sleeves are carried by the second plates, with at least a portion of each threaded rod occupying at least a portion of the bore of the internally threaded sleeve and screw threaded relation. Specifically, the threaded rods are joined together and freely rotatable, with the result that the position of the first, central plate is controlled as the respective plates are opened and closed by a moving platen of an injection mold.

  • Patent number: 6106261
Abstract: A method and apparatus for molding a one-piece article in a single molding operation using two different plastic materials so a first portion of the article is made of one plastic material and a second portion of the article is made of a different plastic material, and the two portions are fused together while hot to create a one-piece article.

  • Patent number: 5979691
Abstract: A two-piece, connectable article comprises a first piece and a second piece which fit together in a connected position. One of the first and second pieces has a plurality of integral, extending members having free ends that each define a latch member. The other of the first and second pieces has a facing wall that defines a plurality of apertures positioned to receive the free ends of the extending members in the connected position. The apertures are sized to cause flexing of the latch members as the latch members are placed through the apertures to assume the connected position. The extending members and facing wall are proportioned to permit the latch members to spring back to an original position in the connected position, to effectively prevent separation of the first and second pieces until at least some of the extending members are broken away.
