Patent number: 10145337Abstract: Electrical ignition of electrically operated propellant in a gas generation system provides an ignition condition at an ignition surface between a pair of electrodes that satisfies three criteria of a current density J that exhibits a decreasing gradient along an axis normal to an ignition surface, is substantially constant across the ignition surface and exceeds an ignition threshold at the ignition surface. These criteria may be satisfied by one or more of an angled electrode configuration, a segmented electrode configuration or an additive to the electrically operated propellant that modifies its conductivity. These configurations improve burn rate control and consumption of the available propellant and are scalable to greater propellant mass to support larger gas generation systems.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2016Date of Patent: December 4, 2018Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: Matt H. Summers, James K. Villarreal, Mark T. Langhenry, Jeremy C. Danforth, John W. Walter

Patent number: 8521191Abstract: A system for determining a location for a mobile communication device includes a plurality of taps, a multiplexer, and a link aggregator. Each tap includes a pair of connectors that couple to a communication link of a radio access network inline and pass between them a signal received over the communication link. Each tap also includes a multiplexer connector that couples to a multiplexer and a cable connecting the multiplexer connector to the inline connectors. The tap replicates signals passing between the inline connectors and propagates the replicated signals to the multiplexer connector. The multiplexer receives, from each tap, signals replicated by that tap, extracts location data from the received signals, and transmits the location data to a link aggregator. The link aggregator receives the location data from the multiplexer and determines a location for one of the mobile devices based on the received location data.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2012Date of Patent: August 27, 2013Assignee: Global Business Software Development Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Michael W. Patent number: 7690288Abstract: An electric pulse generator includes a driver having an outer surface, a receiver, and one or more piezoelectric elements disposed between and in electrical contact with the driver and the receiver. The electric pulse generator further includes an explosive material disposed on the outer surface of the driver. A method of making an electrical pulse generator includes providing one or more piezoelectric elements, a driver, a receiver, and an explosive material and operably associating the explosive material with an outer surface of the driver. The method further includes electrically coupling the one or more piezoelectric elements between the driver and the receiver.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2005Date of Patent: April 6, 2010Assignee: Lockheed Martin CorporationInventors: Steve E. Patent number: 6859172Abstract: A system includes antenna control stations and a system interface. Each antenna control stations directs an orientation of an associated antenna to search for an identification signal associated with a mobile phone. The antenna control station communicates a detection response describing the orientation of the associated antenna. The system interface computes the location of the mobile phone based on the detection responses received from the antenna control stations.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2003Date of Patent: February 22, 2005Assignee: Global Business Software Development Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Michael W. Patent number: 4298642Abstract: A self-adhesive crossover foil for use in security alarm systems consisting of a lead conductor foil, a Mylar insulating foil, adhesively joined to one surface of the lead foil, the Mylar strip being at least as wide as the lead foil, and a pressure-sensitive adhesive, disposed on the exposed surface of the Mylar foil opposite the surface adjoining the insulator to the lead foil. The crossover foil additionally includes a release strip which is coupled to the pressure-sensitive adhesive. In a further embodiment, the Mylar insulating strip is substantially wider than the lead foil strip.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1979Date of Patent: November 3, 1981Inventor: John W. Walter

Patent number: 4065762Abstract: An AC alarm system for protection against unauthorized intrusion having an alarm which consists of two pairs of adjacent bridge arms, each having at least one fixed resistor and a normally open switch shunted across at least one of the fixed resistors. The switches are normally open in a safety condition of the system and adapted to be closed during an unsafe condition. A variable resistor is also connected in series with one or more of the fixed resistors for balancing the bridge circuit. An AC transformer is provided having a secondary winding connected to opposite points of the bridge arms and two detection latch circuits are each connected at another of opposite points of the bridge arms for detecting a change in the resistance values of pairs of bridge arms and for producing a current in response to that change in order to actuate an alarm.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1975Date of Patent: December 27, 1977Inventor: John W. Walter

Patent number: 3993988Abstract: An intrusion detecting apparatus for an alarm system to signal breakage and movement of a door, window, or other movable partition comprises an elongated member forming an interior channel in which is disposed a switch actuating element for motion into and out of cooperative relation with a switch element supported on the channel. The switch actuating element is connected to the partition by a tensile member and is coupled to the elongated member by a spring so that movement of the partition from a predetermined position causes the switch actuating element to move out of cooperative relationship with the switch element and movement of the partition back to the predetermined position restores the element to a cooperative relationship. The tensile member may include a pair of electrical conductors which are connected to a device for detecting breakage of the partition.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1975Date of Patent: November 23, 1976Inventor: John W.
