  • Publication number: 20140276328
Abstract: Fluid communication may be improved for an ethmoid sinus by installing a port or wick in the wall of the ethmoid sinus to provide a fluid passageway across the wall of the ethmoid sinus. Fluid communication for an ethmoid sinus may also be improved by inflating a balloon in a retrobullar space, remodeling the posterior wall of the ethmoid bulla to expand the transition area in the retrobullar space. In addition, a wall defining the retrobullar space may be pierced to provide a passageway for fluid communication.

  • Publication number: 20130184574
Abstract: An irrigation catheter for the treatment of the sinus anatomy is described. The catheter comprises a proximal portion, a rigid middle portion, and a flexible distal portion. The flexible distal portion comprises an irrigation tip and the proximal portion has a stiffness that is intermediate the stiffness of the rigid middle portion and the flexible distal portion. The irrigation tip has a tip opening and one or more radially facing openings. A method for irrigating or suctioning the sinus anatomy includes inserting an irrigation catheter into a patient's anatomy and irrigating or suctioning a target space.

  • Publication number: 20120071856
Abstract: A medical device and method for the treatment of a sinus opening includes a handle, a guide catheter, a guide wire, a balloon catheter, a guide wire movement mechanism and a balloon catheter movement mechanism. The handle has proximal and distal ends and a longitudinal axis along the length of the handle. The guide catheter is attached to the distal end of the handle and has a catheter lumen. The guide wire and balloon catheter are both disposed at least partially in the handle and catheter lumen. The guide wire movement mechanism and the balloon catheter movement mechanism are both operatively disposed on the handle. In addition, the guide wire movement mechanism is configured for advancement and retraction of the guide wire through the handle and catheter lumen by user operation of the guide wire movement mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20120071857
Abstract: A medical device for the treatment of a sinus opening includes a handle, a grooming sheath, a rail, a guide wire, a balloon catheter and a balloon catheter movement mechanism. A method for treating a sinus opening includes inserting a medical device for the treatment of a sinus opening partially into a patient's anatomy, positioning a guide wire operatively extending from a rail of the medical device into a sinus opening of the patient, advancing a balloon catheter from an annular lumen of the medical device and along both the rail of the medical device and the guide wire with a balloon catheter movement mechanism, and inflating the balloon catheter.

  • Patent number: 7955372
Abstract: An endoluminal delivery system is provided having an endoluminal prosthesis sized to fit through a body lumen in a first unexpanded state, where a second state is an expanded relative to the first state. At least one delivery capsule is incorporated to the outer wall of the endoluminal prosthesis, where each one of the delivery capsules has a predetermined delivery pressure. There is at least one reactant in the delivery capsule, where the endoluminal prosthesis is expanded from the first state to the second state to expand the endoluminal prosthesis against the body lumen and induce the predetermined delivery pressure to the delivery capsule, and deliver the reactants to the body lumen according to desired positioning and timing. At least one containment band incorporated to the outer wall of the endoluminal prosthesis and positioned near the delivery capsules to localize the reactants.

  • Patent number: 7572371
Abstract: An exemplary method and system for reducing or eliminating the formation of solid precipitates/deposits of a flowing fluid, such as oil, or for reducing or eliminating existing solid precipitates/deposits contained in a flowing fluid, is provided. A fluid conditioning system and method are provided, along with a magnetic fluid conditioner that provides numerous magnetic field transitions through a magnetic flux density in the flow path of the fluid to reduce the formation of precipitates/deposits. A recirculating system using the invention may be set up to reduce deposits, such as paraffin in oil, by circulating oil through a pump, a magnetic fluid conditioner, a tank, and, in one embodiment, and a heater until the deposits/precipitates have been transitioned from a solid to a liquid. A multi-pole magnet, such as an eight-pole magnet, may be used in an embodiment of the present invention to increase the effectiveness of the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20080277352
Abstract: A magnetic water conditioner treats water with a magnetic field. The magnetic water conditioner includes a tank having an inlet operable to receive water from a pump and an outlet operable to discharge the water. The magnetic water conditioner is installed in close proximity to the pump. A plurality of permanent magnet members are aligned and spaced apart in the interior of the tank with north and south poles disposed at opposite sides of the permanent magnet members. The water flows through the gaps between the permanent magnet members, thus being subjected to magnetic fields created by the permanent magnet members.

  • Patent number: 6115710
Abstract: A system and method is shown for enabling a plurality of computers and associated computer resources, some or all of which may be of heterogeneous configuration, to cooperatively process various applications such that the execution is transparent to the user regardless of where the application is actually executing. This distributed applications architecture performs an information distribution service between multiple transaction processing systems by working with a transaction processor via communication channels to other hosts within the network and a dialog manager which uses a transaction processor interface to communicate with the transaction processor. The architecture employs a map service which provides an editor to create the maps for the application panels, a compiler to generate the maps into a linkable form, and a linkable interpreter which translates the linkable form into the screen presentation format for that platform.

Once the application source code is complete, all application logic, user interface control tables, view definitions, and other application-specific tables for one transaction are packaged in a single load module on the system where the application will reside.
