Abstract: A data cable jack assembly comprises features that ensure secure connectivity between a data cable's drain wire and the assembly's metal door, as well as features that promote consistent and organized termination of the cable's insulated conductors. The assembly includes a wire management component through which is formed a cable reception hole surrounded by a collar on one side of the component. A slot is formed on the collar through which a cable's drain wire can exit the collar, and a raised bump is formed on the outer surface of the collar near the slot, over which the drain wire is routed. The jack assembly's door includes a notch that receives the bump while the door is closed, and the interaction between the slot and the bump establishes a robust electrical connection between the drain wire and the metal jack door.
