  • Publication number: 20240032789
Abstract: Scopes for viewing interior chambers of the eye include a refractive hydrogel polymer button formed by femtosecond laser micro-machining. The refractive button is sandwiched between two transparent plates and mounted on an ocular adapted to be placed directly on the cornea. A physician may look directly through the scope to see anatomical structures at very steep angles within the eye, such as to function as a gonioscope when viewing the anterior chamber angle. The scopes can be modified for viewing a variety of anatomical structures within the eye, and can also be used in conjunction with treatments such as by guiding injections or laser procedures. The refractive button has at least one region with a wavefront pattern of linear steps formed therein. Multiple regions with different wavefront patterns provide the physician with greater flexibility. The refractive button may be rotated relative to the ocular to further customize the image.

  • Patent number: 7422328
Abstract: A sterile barrier is provided for use with a slit lamp. The slit lamp has a proximal handle and a distal light slit transmitting window. The sterile barrier comprises a flexible tubular membrane having a first end, a second end, and an opening therebetween. The opening may be larger adjacent the first end than a handle of the slit lamp. A resilient band is attached to the first end of the tubular membrane. The first end and resilient band in a resiliently expanded configuration are sufficiently large to receive the handle proximally therethrough. The resilient band in the relaxed configuration will releasably restrain the sterile barrier from moving proximally off the handle.

  • Publication number: 20080094574
Abstract: A sterile hand held slit lamp for laser refractive surgery includes a charging base that charges a battery while a hand held slit lamp is positioned thereon. A sterile supple cover is positioned over a slit lamp handle while supported by the charging base. A sterile gloved operator grasps the slit lamp handle covered by the sterile cover and illuminates an eye with a slit lamp beam. In many embodiments, an operating microscope provides a view of the eye to an operator while the slit lamp beam illuminates the eye. Operator adjustable controls located on the slit lamp handle are manipulated through a sterile cover and control a length, a width and an intensity of the slit lamp beam. An operator wearing sterile gloves adjusts a position of a piece of tissue near an incision, and removes debris from a surgical incision in tissue after viewing the eye illuminated with the hand held slit lamp beam.
