  • Publication number: 20240115418
Abstract: Devices, systems and methods for removing heat from subcutaneously disposed lipid-rich cells are disclosed. In selected embodiments, suction and/or heat removal sources are coupled to an applicator. The applicator includes a flexible portion and a rigid portion. The rigid portion includes a thermally conductive plate and a frame coupling the thermally conductive plate and the flexible portion. An interior cavity of the applicator is in fluid communication with the suction source, and the frame maintains contiguous engagement between the heat removal source and the thermally conductive plate.

  • Publication number: 20240099703
Abstract: This disclosure describes a system, method, and non-transitory computer readable media for an ultrasound probe configured to capture ultrasound images of an examination region. The system includes a first set of one or more sensors coupled to the ultrasound probe and configured to estimate a first positional information associated with the ultrasound probe. The system includes a second set of one or more sensors coupled to the ultrasound probe and configured to capture electromagnetic force (EMF) measurements in the examination region to estimate a second positional information associated with the ultrasound probe. The second positional information is used to calibrate the first set of one or more sensors. The system includes a controller configured to use at least one of (i) the first positional information, or (ii) the second positional information to generate a reconstruction of the examination region based on ultrasound images captured by the ultrasound probe.

  • Patent number: 11849956
Abstract: A device for delivering an implant (e.g., an embolic micro-coil) to a vascular disorder of a patient includes a delivery pusher, a moveable element, and first and second elongate members. The delivery pusher defines a lumen between its proximal and distal ends. The moveable element (e.g., a floating tube or a floating coil) defines a passageway therethrough and is disposed within the lumen of the delivery pusher. The first and second elongate members (e.g., core wires) are also disposed within the lumen of the delivery pusher. A portion of each elongate member passes through the passageway of the moveable element. Movement of the first elongate member in a first direction (e.g., retraction of the first elongate member from a locked to an unlocked configuration) causes a time-delayed or lost motion movement of the second elongate member in the same (i.e., first) direction, which releases the implant from the delivery pusher.

  • Publication number: 20230061363
Abstract: In various aspects, the invention includes an embolic device for use in treating a vascular disorder that can include a flexible structure including a series of alternating narrow portions and link portions. Each link portion can include two struts that substantially circumscribe an opening in at least one plane. In some cases, the embolic device further includes a link portion coil disposed over each of the two struts of at least one link portion.

  • Patent number: 10149676
Abstract: A device for delivering an implant to a vascular disorder of a patient includes a delivery pusher. A stationary blade may be coupled to the delivery pusher. The stationary blade may include a sharp and stationary cutting component for cutting through a suture coupling the implant to the delivery pusher and for thereby releasing the implant when placed in proximity to the vascular disorder. In some cases, the strength of a junction connecting the suture to the implant is equal to or greater than the tensile strength of the suture itself. Additionally, or alternatively, a detachment handle may be fixedly and permanently attached to the delivery pusher such that a user of the device need not couple the detachment handle to the delivery pusher. The detachment handle may include a user manipulable component for initiating a mechanical release of the implant when placed in proximity to the vascular disorder.

  • Patent number: 10056934
Abstract: A dynamically configurable antenna is integrated into a system configured to transmit and receive data. Antenna control software and/or hardware configures the antenna to transmit and receive data with different operating characteristics, depending on the communication needs of the system. The physical structure of the dynamically configurable antenna can be modified in order to perform data communications with specific frequency ranges, directionalities, transmission and/or amplification powers, and other operating characteristics generally associated with wireless RF communication.

  • Patent number: 8728823
Abstract: A method is described for detecting lung cancer comprising detecting an elevated level of a CTAP III-related biomarker in a biological sample from a subject at risk for developing lung cancer. Further, a method is described for predicting risk of developing lung cancer in a subject comprising detecting an elevated level of a CTAP III-related biomarker in a biological sample from a subject. Additionally, a method of monitoring the success of lung cancer treatment is described comprising detecting levels of a CTAP III-related biomarker in a biological sample from a subject undergoing treatment for lung cancer for comparison with a previous level obtained from the subject. Multivariate analysis may be incorporated into these methods, evaluating such clinical, or demographic risk factors as age, sex, smoking history, smoking status, smoking family history, education level, COPD, socio-economic status, body mass index and lung function. Kits for conducting such methods are described.
