  • Publication number: 20060264309
Abstract: An air evacuation system is used for lining a container with a flexible liner. The container has a plurality of walls defining a cavity with an open top, and each wall has an interior surface and an exterior surface. The air evacuation system includes a platform for supporting the container in a formed state, wherein the container has the liner in an unseated position within the cavity. A vacuum assembly is coupled to the platform. The vacuum assembly includes a pump in airflow communication with at least one inlet positioned adjacent to the exterior surface of a first container wall. The vacuum assembly is configured to draw air using the at least one inlet from the cavity through the first container wall such that the liner is positioned substantially adjacent to the interior surface of the container in a seated position.

  • Publication number: 20060086168
Abstract: An assembly for positioning sheet metal on a sheet metal brake includes a coarse adjustment mechanism and a fine adjustment mechanism for respectively setting approximate and accurate positions of the sheet metal. Preferably, a mounting structure is removably mountable on front and rear beams of the brake via a pair of respective clamping mechanisms connected to respective mounting legs extending from a hollow tube. One mounting leg is movably connected to the tube for adjusting spacing between the mounting legs to facilitate mounting on the beams. A support arm is slidably received by the hollow tube to provide coarse adjustment. The support arm includes an upwardly extending portion on which is disposed a shelf for supporting an edge of the sheet metal. A threaded member threadably engages the upper portion of the support arm to finely adjust the position of the shelf and piece of sheet metal.

  • Patent number: 5944686
Abstract: An instrument for delivering a variable pressure stream of fluid as a coherent jet. The instrument may be configured for holding in the hand of a user or for manipulation by machine control. The orifices may be oriented axially, transversely or obliquely. A deflector may be provided opposite the orifice to transform the jet stream into a harmless spray. The deflector may be slidable (in the axial mode) or pivotable (in the transverse mode) to ensure a small instrument profile. The instrument may be moldable allowing the user to reshape the jet tip into a desired configuration. The instrument may be remotely steerable and enable a user to selectively alter the direction of the jet without having to remove the instrument from the surgical site.

  • Patent number: 5586126
Abstract: An amplitude error detection and correction circuit apparatus and method can be used to detect and correct errors in signal amplitudes of a low information content signal during playback or transmission. The difference values dS/dt between the amplitudes of each sample and its neighboring samples are analyzed and compared to a maximum difference value dS.sub.max /dt. If the difference values dS/dt for a sample exceed the maximum difference value dS.sub.max /dt then the sample amplitude is elided or adjusted during playback or transmission to minimize distortion within the signal. The maximum difference value dS.sub.max /dt is determined by either the known characteristics of the signal type, analyzing a predetermined number of samples around the sample or grouping the data as it is input and storing or transmitting a maximum difference value for each group. The signal can be analyzed during the input of the signal, if the signal is accessible at this time, and the maximum difference value dS.sub.

  • Patent number: 4635269
Abstract: A flowing gas laser of the kind normally operating in the glow discharge mode and having a glow discharge region through which the gas flows while the glow discharge occurs, employs one or an array of flow smoothing screens disposed in series in the gas flow path in a manner that enables the input power loading to be increased without causing arcing in the electric discharge of the lasing gas. The screens are disposed upstream of the glow discharge region and cause smoothing of small scale turbulence in the gas flow. The screen closest to the discharge region is spaced from the beginning of that region by a distance not less than ten times the distance between adjacent holes of the screen. Successive screens in the series array are spaced at intervals sufficient to enable the requisite flow smoothing by each screen to occur before the flow encounters the next screen of the array.
