    Abstract: A lighted contact switch comprising: a non-conductive housing; a conductive biased spring member in electrical contact with a first terminal disposed in the housing base, and adapted to provide electrical contact with a second terminal disposed in the housing base when the biased spring member is depressed; an actuator positioned adjacent to the biased spring member; and a cap adapted with opposing tabs sized to engage and secure the cap to the actuator at assembly. The lighted switch includes opposing lamp terminals disposed at one end within the actuator sides, and extending at the opposite end through apertures in the housing base, the lamp is releasably secured between the lamp terminals and may be independently illuminated by electrical communication with the lamp terminals extending from the base. Graphics, lettering or numbering may be marked upon a translucent insert secured to the cap to identify the switching function. For non-lighted use, the switch may be assembled without the lamp.

    Abstract: An alternate action push-push switch is disclosed, having a housing with a dielectric bar portion; a plurality of conductive terminals; a plurality of conductive spring contactors having an inclined segment in proximity to the dielectric bar portion and a contact segment in proximity to the terminal contact portion; at least one push member slideably disposed at least partially within the housing; an alternate action switch mechanism having a closed loop cam slot, a cam follower, and a resilient spring disposed between the housing and the push member, to provide unidirectional travel of the cam follower in the cam slot as the push member is alternately biased between first and second operating positions. More than one push member may be used to supply multiple switching configurations. A protrusion on a first push member may be adapted to actuate an adjoining second push member, while allowing the second push member to be operated independently of the first push member.

    Abstract: An integral switch connector with remote actuator has a plurality of conductive terminals disposed within a switch housing. A slide member is remotely biased to make or break contact between contact arms to switch voltage between terminals. A connector disposed within switch housing provides connection to a remote apparatus. The remote actuator has a snap-action feature, to bias the slide member independently of the speed of movement of the manual biasing means. Movement of the actuator assembly biases a non-conductive actuator rod disposed within a non-conductive sleeve, to bias the slide member within the switch housing to make or break electrical communication between terminals. A spring disposed between the slide member and the switch housing breaks electrical contact between terminals should the actuator rod fail. A link coupling provides a removable connection between rod and sleeve at a location between actuator and switch assemblies.

    Abstract: A machine insertable miniature DIP switch (10) comprises a housing (12) insert molded about a plurality of terminals (40). The terminals (40) are oppositely disposed pairs having interior portions (44) located within housing chambers (30) formed by transversely extending walls (20), with the ends of the pairs of terminals separated by an open area (A) comprising a depression. An actuator (60) includes an upward extension (64) above a top plate (62) with a contactor receptacle (66) located therebelow, a depending detent wall (68) with a detent protrusion (70) on one side of the actuator, and an oppositely disposed depending actuator side wall (72). The detent protrusion (70) is received by detent openings (22) within the associated transverse wall (20), top plate extensions (63) are positioned over the associated transverse wall, and the oppositely disposed actuator side wall (72) is positioned for engagement with a shelf (24) located in the associated transverse wall.

    Abstract: A rotary potentiometer (10) having an insert molded thermoplastic resin body (12) with an annular groove (14) disposed therein about a central post (19) having an aperture (16) therethrough. A resistive element (26) is disposed about the periphery of the groove (14), an actuator arm (20) is attached to one end of a metallic shaft (18) journalled in said aperture (16) in the central post (19), and a return spring (28) has one end (29) captured within a drop slot (13) at the perimeter of the groove and the other end (31) secured in slot (11) of the shaft (18) for returning the actuator arm (20) and drive arm (22) to their initial position. A drive arm (22) has a rake type contactor (33), the drive arm (22) being secured to the operating end of the shaft (18). A terminal coupling subassembly (65) is positioned within a receiving well (40 ) in the potentiometer body (12), and is captured within the body by securing a cover (80) over the receiving well (40).

    Abstract: A preprogrammed slide switch assembly (10) is provided for the simultaneous opening or closing of a series of switches disposed within a housing (12). A slider (60) having a grip (66) extending through an longitudinal opening (14) in the housing (12), has a plurality of contactor bars (54) attached thereto and extending laterally, each in a predetermined direction. A two part base (22) has each part (24, 26) molded about a plurality of terminals (28) so that when the parts (24, 26) are coupled together, pairs of oppositely disposed terminals (28) will each be positioned for engagement with a respective one of the lateral contactor bars (54). The lateral contactor bars (54) engage either one or both of the terminals (28) of the respective set of terminals in one of two transverse positions of the slider (60), and in a predetermined pattern of open and closed switches.

    Abstract: A multiple-function electrical switch has an automatic return to an initial position upon release of the shaft (60). An annular drive (70) mounted upon the shaft (60) has a rotary contactor (100) and momentary switch contacts (90,92) secured thereto, and a torsional spring (110) is mounted in a cover (36) enclosing one end of the housing (11). As the shaft is rotated, a tongue (78) on the driver (70) engages the torsional spring (110) which will effect return of the driver and shaft to its initial position upon release of the shaft. The tongue (78) is received in a pocket (56) located in the cover (36) such that the shaft (60) may be moved axially at only one rotational position, such movement effecting engagement between the momentary switch contacts (90,92) and terminals (44,46) disposed in the cover.

    Abstract: A variable resistance control employing a support plate and a resistance element having a pair of spaced resistance paths applied on a base and rotatably mounted on the support plate. A pair of terminals with integral contacts are secured to the support plate and are disposed intermediate the base and the support plate. The pair of resistive paths are concentrically disposed on a surface of the base and electrically connected to each other. Each of the contacts engages a respective one of the resistive paths. In the assembly of the control, terminals are initially joined by a bridging member and, after the terminals are secured to the support plate, the bridging member is severed from the terminals providing a pair of separate terminals with integral contacts.

    Abstract: A variable resistance control containing a one-piece stamped mounting bracket having an integral collector ring for positioning a rotatable gear and having a pair of integral yokes for aligning a lead screw in driving relationship with the rotatable gear. A contactor constrained to rotate with the gear wipingly engages a resistance element. Each of the yokes comprises a pair of arms arcuately clinched around the lead screw to secure the lead screw to the mounting bracket. Integral with the gear are two outwardly extending resilient fingers for engagement with a respective one of the yokes to arrest rotation of the gear. Continued rotation of the lead screw after rotation of the gear has been arrested flexes the resilient finger toward the lead screw for driving the gear out of engagement with the lead screw. An aperture is provided in the lead screw for insertion of a shaft or tool for remote actuation of the control or for actuation of another control.

    Abstract: An electrical switch suitable for use singly or in tandem with other switches and/or with a variable resistance control. Each of the tandem switch housing sections defines a cavity and provides an annular bearing member rotatably supporting the periphery of a disk shaped switch actuator. The switch actuators close the cavities of the respective switch housing sections and each of the switch actuators carries a cam disposed near its periphery in an interference path with a contact spring biased between spaced projections on common contact means. The contact spring is provided with a pair of end members pivotally secured to the common contact means and a U-shaped section joined to the end members. The cam engages the bight portion of the U-shaped section for moving the legs of the U-shaped section into and out of engagement with first and second contact means disposed in each housing section.

    Abstract: A switch assembly provides a plurality of slide switches. Each switch employs a flexible guide rod cantilevered within a common housing providing a first contact. A second contact is biased into electrical contact with each guide rod and an insulative cam carried by a switch actuator is supported by each guide rod for rectilinear movement therealong in an interference path with the second contact to separate the second contact from the guide rod. The flexible guide rod is movable with respect to the second contact and provides the means to align the switch actuator and the cam in an interference path with the second contact. Each switch actuator provides a pair of side walls enclosing a respective guide rod and second contact suspended therebetween.
