  • Patent number: 5813297
Abstract: The invention relates to a tool having first and second cooperating jaws connected by a pivot. Each jaw includes a gripping surface and two side surfaces, and each jaw has a nose end that is remote from the pivot. Handle means causes the jaws to close about the pivot. There is a groove in the gripping surface of each of the jaws extending to the nose end of the jaw. The grooves lie along the longitudinal axis that lies in a plane extending between the gripping surfaces of the closed jaws. A cavity that is deeper than the grooves is formed in both of the jaws at the ends of the grooves opposite the nose.

  • Patent number: 4453742
Abstract: An apparatus for attachment to skis to assist the user to learn basic maneuvers. A bracket is pivotally connected between the front ends of the skis in such a manner that the rear ends thereof can move inwardly and outwardly, and the skis can pivot about their longitudinal axes. A vertical pole is pivotally attached to each ski at a point between the front bracket and the boot retaining means. A linkage rod having a pivotal joint interconnects the poles. The pivotal connections between the rod and poles is such that one ski can be advanced in front of the other and assume a position lower than the other.

  • Patent number: 4336950
Abstract: A sled having a frame supporting front and rear pairs of skis. The front portion of each front ski is pivotally mounted at the bottom of a front strut so that it can tilt about its longitudinal axis and can pivot about the axis of the front strut. The rear portion is mounted for pivotal rotation about a rear strut which is affixed to a strut support that pivots about an axis that is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the sled. During turning, the rear struts swing opposite to the direction of the turn, thereby causing the front skis to tilt and bite into the snow. The rear skis are tied to the front skis so that they also swing out and bite into the snow during turns.
