  • Publication number: 20260109540
Abstract: A refuse vehicle includes a lift apparatus, an electromagnetic radiation (EMR) detector, a distance sensor, a camera, and processing circuitry. The lift apparatus includes forks configured to be received within pockets of a refuse container. The EMR detector detects a presence of a power line overhead of the refuse vehicle. The distance sensor detects a distance of an obstacle that is overhead of the refuse vehicle. The camera obtains image data of the obstacle that is overhead of the refuse vehicle. The processing circuitry obtains feedback from the EMR detector, the distance sensor, and the camera and determines, based on the feedback, whether an obstacle is present within a threshold distance above the refuse vehicle. The processing circuitry prevents operation of the lift apparatus responsive to determining that the obstacle is present within the threshold distance above the refuse vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20250340370
Abstract: A refuse vehicle is described, comprising a body with a refuse compartment, a hopper for receiving refuse, an actuator for directing refuse within the body, a sensor mounted on the vehicle, and processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to capture sensor data of an object using the sensor, identify the object as non-refuse based on the sensor data, and upon detection of the object as non-refuse, send commands to adjust the actuator's motion.

  • Publication number: 20250136368
Abstract: A includes a camera and processing circuitry. The camera can be oriented outwards from the refuse vehicle and is configured to obtain image data of a refuse container. The processing circuitry can be configured to obtain the image data. The processing circuitry can also configured to predict, based on the image data, a type of refuse in the refuse container. The processing circuitry can also be configured to, responsive to determining that the refuse vehicle is configured to collect the type of refuse in the refuse container, operate a lift apparatus of the refuse vehicle to empty the refuse in the refuse container into a hopper of the refuse vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20250135652
Abstract: A refuse vehicle includes a body, a hopper, a robotic arm implement, multiple cameras, and processing circuitry. The body defines a pair of refuse compartments. The hopper receives refuse and direct the refuse into one of the pair of refuse compartments. The cameras are positioned at the hopper. The processing circuitry obtains image data of the hopper from the cameras. The processing circuitry detects an object to be separated from other refuse in the hopper based on the image data. The processing circuitry is also configured to operate the robotic arm implement to move the object from a first part of the hopper to a second part of the hopper for storage in one of the pair of refuse compartments separate from other refuse. The processing circuitry may be configured to obtain at least part of the image data from a camera positioned within a customer's refuse container.

  • Publication number: 20250138555
Abstract: A system for controlling the operation of a refuse collection vehicle includes at least one first sensor coupled to the vehicle to detect objects during an approach, at least one second sensor to detect the vehicle's position during the approach, and one or more processors. The processors receive object data from the first sensor and positional data from the second sensor, and use this information to identify a refuse container. Upon identifying the refuse container, the processors transmit a first instruction to the vehicle's control system to adjust operating parameters during the approach.

  • Publication number: 20250136370
Abstract: A refuse collection system includes a deployable refuse collection vehicle and a control system. The deployable refuse collection vehicle is configured to deploy from a refuse vehicle. The deployable refuse collection vehicle includes a chassis, a drive system coupled to the chassis, one or more sensors configured to acquire data to facilitate detecting a refuse can, a grip apparatus configured to engage the refuse can. The control system is configured to detect the refuse can based on the data, control the drive system to navigate the deployable refuse collection vehicle to the refuse can, and control the grip apparatus to engage with the refuse can.
