  • Patent number: 10066685
Abstract: A hydrodynamic retarder device for installation in a driveline to a vehicle, wherein the retarder device comprises: a blade-equipped stator which, together with a blade-equipped rotor, forms a blade system with a workspace for receipt of an aqueous working medium, and a retarder circuit connected to the workspace to control the inflow of a working medium to the workspace, wherein the retarder circuit is installed to be connected to the vehicle's ordinary cooling water circuit. The retarder circuit comprises valve elements to shut off the flow of working medium to the workspace, and a negative pressure generator is connected in the retarder circuit, which is installed to reduce the pressure in the workspace to or below the vapor pressure for the working medium, so that the workspace is thus evacuated of the liquid working medium. The invention also pertains to a method and a vehicle.

Abstract: A hydrodynamic retarder device for installation in a power-train in a vehicle, wherein the retarder device comprises: a shovel-equipped stator which, together with a shovel-equipped rotor, forms a shovel system with a workspace for receipt of an aqueous working medium, and a retarder circuit connected to the workspace, to control the inflow of a working medium to the workspace, wherein the retarder circuit is installed to be connected to the vehicle's ordinary cooling water circuit. The retarder circuit comprises valve elements to shut off the flow of working medium to the workspace, and a negative pressure generator is connected in the retarder circuit, which negative pressure generator is installed to reduce the pressure in the workspace to or below the vapor pressure for the working medium, so that the workspace is thus evacuated of the liquid working medium.

  • Patent number: 7182186
Abstract: A hydrodynamic brake which comprises a stator and a rotor, arranged to form a toroidal space, and blades on the rotor and the stator extend into the space. A medium which is intended to be supplied to the toroidal space to effect a braking action. A first pipe circuit for transferring the medium from an outlet from the toroidal space to an inlet to the toroidal space. A second pipe circuit for transferring the medium from a storage space to the toroidal space. The second pipe circuit transfers the medium to the toroidal space via a second inlet which is arranged separately relative to a corresponding first inlet to the first pipe circuit.

  • Patent number: 7097013
Abstract: The present invention relates to a hydrodynamic brake which comprises a stator, a rotor, a toroidal space defined by the stator and the rotor, a medium which is intended to be supplied to the toroidal space when the brake is activated, and a multiplicity of components for allowing regulation of the flow of the medium to and from the toroidal space. The hydrodynamic brake incorporates a structure with a multiplicity of recesses which each have an opening in a substantially common plane and each is intended to accommodate one of the components.

  • Publication number: 20050207927
Abstract: A gear pump incorporates a ring gear supported for rotation, a gearwheel arranged eccentrically within the ring gear, and a rotatable shaft incorporating a portion which extends through a hole in the gearwheel. The portion of the shaft includes a first surface, and the gearwheel includes a second surface, which surfaces are shaped to allow transfer of rotary motion from the shaft to the gearwheel. The transfer between the first surface and the second surface takes place via a region of contact. The region of contact has axial extent equal to less than half of the gearwheel's axial extent and the region is divided by a radial plane which extends centrally through the gearwheel.
