  • Patent number: 9784136
Abstract: A tool assembly for safely rotating a heavy turbine generator rotor for alignment and maintenance purposes. The tool assembly includes a plurality of segments mounted to an outer face of a coupling affixed to an end of a shaft of the rotor, where the segments include a plurality of segment teeth extending beyond an outer edge of the coupling. A tool is positioned adjacent to the coupling and includes a support assembly, a hydraulic ram and a ratcheting pawl. The ratcheting pawl includes a drive pin positioned to engage the teeth of the segments, where extension of a piston rod from the hydraulic ram causes the coupling and shaft to rotate.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: October 10, 2017
    Assignee: SIEMENS ENERGY, INC.
Inventors: Ira J. Campbell, Robert F. Wasileski, Johnny R. Dickson, Gabriel A. Payan
  • Patent number: 9309784
Abstract: A positioning arrangement (142), including: an outer casing having a frame member (78); a low pressure steam turbine inner casing (140) having an appendage (60) and a threaded hole through the appendage; and an alignment constraint (10) configured to be positioned in the threaded hole and define a positional relationship between the inner casing and the frame member. The alignment constraint includes a main body (14) and a discrete piggyback body (16), both configured to rotate in the threaded hole as a unitary body when in a joined, end-to-end configuration.
