  • Patent number: 8256707
Abstract: An engine mounting configuration reacts engine thrust at an aft mount. The engine mounting configuration reduces backbone bending of the engine, intermediate case distortion and frees-up space within the core nacelle.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 1, 2007
Date of Patent: September 4, 2012
    Assignee: United Technologies Corporation
Inventors: Gabriel L. Suciu, Jon A. Marx, Brian D. Merry, Craig A. Nordeen, Christopher M. Dye
  • Patent number: 8118251
Abstract: A mounting system for a gas turbine engine includes a thrust ring and a linkage assembly. The linkage assembly is at least partially received by the thrust ring. The linkage assembly reacts at least a side load and a thrust load communicated from the thrust ring.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 18, 2008
Date of Patent: February 21, 2012
    Assignee: United Technologies Corporation
Inventors: Gabriel L. Suciu, Brian D. Merry, Jon A. Marx, Christopher M. Dye

  • Publication number: 20050205651
Abstract: A thermal insulating device, particularly suitable for maintaining the chilled state of a wine bottle, comprises an outer paperboard tube, an inner paperboard tube and a base. The base is supported on an inwardly rolled bead formed on the outer paperboard tube and the inner paperboard tube is formed with an appropriate profile to space it from the outer paperboard tube to define a cavity therebetween. The device may be provided with a lid. The invention provides a low cost insulating device which may be used for the retail sale of pre-chilled wines or other beverages.

  • Patent number: 4527391
Abstract: For a long dual mixer nacelle housing a fan-jet engine powering aircraft, a pair of concentric sleeves sandwiching the cascades to effectuate thrust reversal are synchronously deployed axially to communicate the fan discharge air in the duct with ambient through the cascades. A rack and gear connection between sleeves permits the independent linear motion of each of the sleeves so that the actuation of one automatically actuates the other without the necessity of attaching both to each other.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 30, 1982
Date of Patent: July 9, 1985
    Assignee: United Technologies Corporation
Inventors: Jon A. Marx, Wendell R. Loso
  • Patent number: 3979087
Abstract: The loads manifested by and imposed on the engine are transmitted through a mounting formed on a single plane with a three point attachment permitting the engine to be cantilever mounted although not limited thereto, and allows for the engine to project considerably forward of an airfoil section to which it is attached.
