  • Patent number: 9578283
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems, methods, and computer readable media for managing bandwidth based on audio power level. In a particular embodiment, a method provides, from a conference system, transferring at least one audio level criterion to a first user system in a communication session. At the conference system, when a level of first audio for the communication session satisfies the at least one audio level criterion at the first user system, the method provides receiving the first audio encoded using first audio codec parameters by the first user system. At the conference system, when the level of the first audio does not satisfy the at least one audio level criterion at the first user system, the method provides receiving the first audio encoded using second audio codec parameters by the first user system.

  • Patent number: 9430615
Abstract: A personal electronic device is configured to unobtrusively detect heart rate and rhythm anomalies utilizing an electrocardiogram (EKG)-based detection and monitoring method. As one example, while a user is using the personal electronic device for its intended function, such as communicating, playing music, and/or watching videos, the personal electronic device may be unobtrusively detecting and recording a user's heart rate and heart rhythm to detect anomalies. For instance, while a user is making a phone call, electrodes of the personal electronic device located in the vicinity of the earpiece and on the handset, may come into contact with a user's ear and a user's hand respectively. Thus, while the personal electronic device is being consciously used for a function other than EKG monitoring, EKG monitoring is unobtrusively occurring.

  • Patent number: 9379999
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems, methods, and computer readable media for managing bandwidth based on audio power level. In a particular embodiment, a method includes receiving a media stream from a first client device, wherein the media stream includes an audio stream. During receipt of the media stream, the method provides determining whether an audio power level of the audio stream satisfies criteria for inclusion in an output media stream from the media server system along with one or more media streams received from one or more other client devices. Upon determining that the criteria is not satisfied, the method provides transferring a first notification to the first client device that includes a first instruction for the first client device to reduce an amount of bandwidth used for transferring the media stream.

  • Patent number: 9196260
Abstract: The system and method generate a voice checklist template that contains at least one item. A revised voice checklist is generated from the voice checklist template. A request for input for an item in the revised voice checklist is sent. After receiving a response to the request the revised voice checklist is updated with the response. If the revised voice checklist is not complete, the process repeats until the revised voice checklist is complete. Once the process is complete, the revised voice checklist is stored.

  • Patent number: 9026654
Abstract: Systems and methods for constructing and maintaining a peer-to-peer overlay graph are disclosed herein. The systems and methods include adding a node to the overlay graph. Adding the node includes choosing an edge that is not connected to the node, breaking the edge and connecting the node to broken edge nodes previously connected to the edge. The process is repeating if additional connections are need and node addition data is stored for the node.

  • Publication number: 20140358874
Abstract: A plurality of lines of data from a file are stored in a cache. The lines of data typically come from a file that is being compressed. The process gets an additional line of data to compress. Based on a compression level, the additional line of data is compared with the lines of data in the cache to determine if there is a best matched line of data from the plurality of lines in the cache. In response to determining the best matched line of data, the additional line of data is compressed with a first compression algorithm based on the best matched line of data to create a compressed line. The compressed line is written to the file. In response to not determining the best matched line of data, the additional line of data is written to the file. The additional line of data is stored in the cache.

  • Publication number: 20140357215
Abstract: A Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) is configured to receive a description of detected movement associated with one or more inertial sensors of a communication device. The description of the detected movement may then be analyzed to determine a likelihood of injury associated with the movement, whether or not the user associated with the communication device is experiencing abnormal neuromuscular activity, and/or whether the user is outside a range of the communication device such that the user is unlikely to hear audio information originating from the communication device. The PSAP may additionally or alternatively utilize the description of the movement information to assist and/or provide an advisory recommendation in the decision of which, if any first responder resources should be dispatched; the recommendation may include which resources and at what priority the resources should be dispatched.

Abstract: A Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) is configured to enable the detection of one or more clinical signs associated with a caller. The clinical signs may include both auditory and visual clinical signs and may be detected by analyzing a portion of the call information to determine one or more characteristics associated with the call information and comparing the one or more determined characteristics to known clinical sign characteristics. The PSAP may additionally or alternatively utilize the detection of the clinical signs to assist and/or provide an advisory recommendation in the decision of which, if any first responder resources should be dispatched; the recommendation may include which resources and at what priority the resources should be dispatched.

  • Patent number: 8817952
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and systems are provided such that a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) may utilize a new model to handle Open Line emergency calls, including audio optimization, automation, analysis, and presentation. Embodiments of the present disclosure assist with the difficult task of identifying background noise while trying to listen and talk to a caller, and give the best possible audio from the caller to the emergency call-taker or dispatcher. More particularly, an audio stream is split into at least two instances, with a first instance being optimized for speech intelligibility and provided to a call-taker or dispatcher and a second instance being provided for background sound analysis. Accordingly, the new PSAP Open Line model may allow for significantly more efficient emergency assessment, location, and management of resources.

  • Patent number: 8639937
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for extracting information from a user's memory that will be easily recalled during future authentication yet is hard for an attacker to guess. The information might be a little-known fact of personal relevance to the user or the personal details surrounding a public event. The user is guided to appropriate topics and forms an indirect hint that is useful to the user yet not to an attacker. Information extraction techniques verify that the information is not easily attacked and to estimate how many bits of assurance the question and answer provide. The information extracted may be, e.g., Boolean (Yes/No), multiple choice, numeric, textual, or a combination of the foregoing. The enrollment process may schedule the sending of one or more reminder messages to the user containing the question (but not the answer) to reinforce the memory of the user.

  • Publication number: 20110289482
Abstract: The system and method establish a baseline of a parameter of an application. The parameter can be based on time spent in a function, out of range variables, memory allocations, memory de-allocations, page faults, time spent in a section of code, time spent in a line of code, and the like. The baseline is done while the application is operating. A threshold for the parameter is generated by the system and/or defined by a user. The system then breaks into a debugger and/or stores state information when the threshold is met. In a second embodiment, the source code for a function where the break occurred is retrieved and compared to a template that identifies one or more potential coding errors. The template is applied to the source code to identify the potential coding errors. The potential coding errors are then displayed to a user.
