One or more embodiments of the disclosure relate to mitigation of processing loops during establishment of a communication session in a network. A network node at the boundary of the network can mitigate processing loops by monitoring formation of such loops and proactively terminating communication processing in response to expiration of a timer. The timer can be initiated in response to formation of a loop.

In addition, an identifier associated with the administrative data can be updated (e.g., created or modified) with data indicative of the device that originated the emergency communication.
