Publication number: 20250030453Abstract: A wireless microphone system may be configured to compensate for a radio frequency (RF) loss incurred in a wired communication path. The system may comprise a receiver configured to receive an downlink RF signal from a wireless microphone, and a transmission line accessory configured to receive an uplink test signal. The RF test signal may be generated from an RF source and may be measured by the transmission line accessory to determine configuration information for an adjustable RF gain circuit.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 9, 2024Publication date: January 23, 2025Applicant: Shure Acquisition Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Mark Allen Kenkel, Scott R. Anderson, Steven M. Grad, Jon Caleb Halverson

Patent number: 12176966Abstract: A wireless microphone system comprises system equipment (for example, rack-mounted equipment including receivers/transceivers, distribution amplifier), one or more transmission line accessories, and a transmission line network connecting the accessories with the system equipment. The transmission line accessory compensates for downlink RF losses on transmission lines between accessories and between an accessory and system equipment. Compensation parameters for the transmission line accessory is determined by the system equipment by generating an uplink RF test signal by an RF source at the system equipment. The RF source may be varied over a plurality of frequencies to determine the compensation parameters over the plurality of frequencies. The system equipment subsequently instructs the transmission line accessory to configure an adjustable RF gain circuit (and also possibly a compensation filter) accordingly.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2022Date of Patent: December 24, 2024Assignee: Shure Acquisition Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Mark Allen Kenkel, Scott R. Anderson, Steven M. Grad, Jon Caleb Halverson

Patent number: 11558695Abstract: A condenser microphone with at least two microphone capsules, each including a diaphragm and a backplate. The backplates of both the first capsule and second capsule having an electret bias. The first capsule having a first polar pattern, and the second capsule having a second polar pattern. The second capsule having an external voltage bias that is continuously variable over a certain voltage range. This external voltage bias can be applied to the second diaphragm or second backplate. The microphone's total polar pattern consists of a combination of the first polar pattern and the second polar pattern. Using the external voltage bias of the second capsule, the microphone's total polar pattern is continuously variable throughout a range set by the external voltage bias.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2020Date of Patent: January 17, 2023Assignee: Shure Acquisition Holdings, Inc.Inventor: Jon Caleb Halverson

Patent number: 9360155Abstract: A microphone is mounted to apparatus in order to receive sound from a sound source. The apparatus has a microphone clamp to secure different microphones to a variety of musical instruments and other sound sources and may be used to directly mount a microphone to a variety of clamping surfaces. The mounting apparatus incorporates a dual jaw design to allow for easy, fast, and secure mounting to the clamping surface. The apparatus supports a quick release mechanism for easy and fast engagement and disengagement of the dual jaws, consequently reducing time needed to securely clamp and remove the mounting apparatus with the clamping surface. The release mechanism may include a dowel release having a hole through which the jaw stud is situated. The hole has two curved surfaces so that one of jaws may be moved without turning the jaw stud when the dowel release is depressed.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2013Date of Patent: June 7, 2016Assignee: Shure Acquisition Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Jon Caleb Halverson, Walter Timothy Harwood, Paul Mark Jacobs, Martin K. Reiling, John P. Devlin, Gabor Zanoni
