Publication number: 20250386412Abstract: A system for controlling human centric tunable white lights. A tunable white light fixture and a device comprising a plurality of power outputs. A profile of a plurality of power settings to mix an output of a warm channel and an output of a cool channel of the tunable white light fixture to produce light of a desired brightness and a desired CCT. Information for a scene comprising static brightness and static CCT levels and information for an automatic progression of varying brightness and CCT levels designed to mimic a plurality of properties of the sun's light at predetermined times.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 18, 2024Publication date: December 18, 2025Inventors: Jon Daniel Upton, Jennifer Upton, Christian Ratcliffe, Brandon E. Lambert, Elton Lee Ledbetter

Publication number: 20250380345Abstract: A method of operating a lighting device system. The method comprising the steps of defining a first power signature for a first light fixture based on a first resulting voltage and a first target current of the first light fixture, measuring a second power signature of a second light fixture, comparing the second power signature of the second light fixture to the first power signature of the first light fixture; and determining whether the first light fixture experienced an undesired operating state if the second power signature of the first light fixture deviates from the first power signature of the first light fixture. In one arrangement, the first light fixture is substantially equivalent to the second light fixture.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 15, 2024Publication date: December 11, 2025Inventors: Jon Daniel Upton, Jennifer Upton, Christian Ratcliffe, Brandon Lambert, Elton Ledbetter

Publication number: 20250365828Abstract: A light characteristic of one or more luminaires can be controlled by periodically obtaining a target correlated color temperature (CCT) for a given time of day at the luminaires' location and obtaining a type identifier for each luminaire. The identifier can include information such as model number, serial number, manufacturer, digital-communication data, RFID tag data, QR-code data or user input. A profile for each luminaire is selected from multiple stored profiles based on its type identifier and power-supply settings generated for the DC power supplies powering each luminaire's light emitters using the target CCT and corresponding profile information. The generated power-supply settings are then sent to the respective DC power supplies.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 8, 2025Publication date: November 27, 2025Inventors: Jon Daniel Upton, Jennifer Upton, Christian Ratcliffe, Brandon E. Lambert, John Christopher Gowin, Elton Lee Ledbetter, Christopher Andrew Merts

Patent number: 12389503Abstract: A correlated color temperature (CCT) of one or more luminaires is controlled by obtaining a target CCT for the one or more luminaires and obtaining a first profile associated with a first luminaire of the one or more luminaires. A first target power for a first direct-current (DC) power input of the first luminaire and a second target power for a second DC power input of the first luminaire are calculated based on the target CCT and the first profile so that the first target power and the second target power drive the first luminaire to emit light at the target CCT. A first DC power supply is controlled to deliver the first target power to the first DC power input of the first luminaire and a second DC power supply is controlled to deliver the second target power to the second DC power input of the first luminaire.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2024Date of Patent: August 12, 2025Inventors: Jon Daniel Upton, Jennifer Upton, Christian Ratcliffe, Brandon E. Lambert, John Christopher Gowin, Elton Lee Ledbetter, Christopher Andrew Merts

Publication number: 20250113420Abstract: A closed-loop current controller for regulating a current consumption of a load, comprising a current sensor for detecting a present current consumption of the load, a PWM modulator for modulating a PWM signal sent to the load and a controller for receiving an original reference signal representing a target current, the controller calculating an error signal based on a difference between the target current and the present current, the controller using an error-integrating algorithm that adjusts the original reference signal to produce a revised reference signal. The PWM modulator receives the revised reference signal and modulates the PWM signal sent to the load based in part on the revised reference signal.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 18, 2024Publication date: April 3, 2025Inventors: Craig Aker, Jon Daniel Upton, Jennifer Upton, Christian Ratcliffe, Brandon E. Lambert, Elton Lee Ledbetter
