  • Patent number: 6902041
Abstract: A system enables a handicapped person to select a destination floor in an elevator using a single control and comprises a first mechanism to sequentially enumerate potential destination floors, a second mechanism enabling user selection of a desired destination floor by interacting with the single control when the desired destination floor is enumerated by the first mechanism, and a third mechanism to coupled a signal from the second mechanism to command the elevator to halt at the user-selected designation floor. The system may be disposed within and/or without the elevator.

  • Patent number: 6891479
Abstract: A remotely controllable door operator apparatus is mountable to a doorframe structure and a movable door to control door movement between a closed position and an opened position. The operator apparatus includes a motor assembly, a linkage device, a slip clutch assembly, and a controller unit. The motor assembly has an output shaft, and the motor is mountable to one of the door and the door frame structure. The slip clutch assembly is coupled between the output shaft and the linkage device to transfer torque therebetween, and can slip to enable manual and remote operation of the door. The controller unit is coupled to the motor assembly to activate the operator apparatus to close the door in manual operation, and to open and to close the door in response to at least one remote signal. A method of using the remotely controllable automatic door operator and closer is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5878530
Abstract: A remotely controllable door operator system permitting active and passive use of a door includes a transmitter, a receiver, a master timing sequencing mechanism, a clutch-regulated prime mover that can actively move the door, and a mechanism that senses whether the door is fully closed. The door operator is controllable by depressing a single button on the transmitter, which sends a signal to the receiver. If the sense mechanism determines the door is fully closed, the receiver causes the timing mechanism to cause the prime mover to disengage the door latch and to commence actively opening the door for a first time period. The timing mechanism may be user adjusted to control the extent of the door opening by adjusting the length of the first time period.

  • Patent number: 5095654
Abstract: An automatic operating system for swinging doors which is controlled by the user by means of a miniature, hand-held radio transmitter having a single operating pushbutton.Depression of the pushbutton results, sequentially, in the retraction of the deadbolt, the retraction of the main latch, and the opening of the door. The door then remains open until the pushbutton is again depressed, whereupon the main latch is extended, the door is swung to its closed position, the deadbolt is extended into its associated recess in the doorjamb, and the air pressure in the automatic door operating system is bled to atmospheric level, resetting the system to its normal or quiescent state.
