Abstract: A lift and support apparatus for lifting a motorcycle or similar sports vehicle of the type which is straddled in use from a ground surface and automatically holding the straddled type sports vehicle on the rear of an automotive vehicle. The apparatus uses a frame work secured to the automotive vehicle and includes a support rail capable of raising and lowering a carriage support at its outer end. The carriage support is provided with locking members for releasably locking the motorcycle or other straddled type sports vehicle onto the carriage support. When raised, the carriage support will hold the sports vehicle in an upright position for transport, and thereafter allow for lowering to a ground surface.
