  • Patent number: 4907605
Abstract: An oral nicotine dispenser comprising nicotine or a nicotine salt and a water-insoluble material capable of sorbing nicotine. The dispenser is able to slowly release the sorbed nicotine or nicotine salt in an oral environment. The water insoluble material may consist essentially of paper or a polymeric substance able to absorptively contain nicotine. The water-insoluble material may be a substance such as paper or cellulose acetate. A water-insoluble polymeric substance such as a polyolefin, most preferably polyethylene or polypropylene may be used as the nicotine-holding material.

  • Patent number: 4800903
Abstract: A nicotine dispenser comprising a polyolefin porous plug with reversibly retained nicotine therein. The dispenser is mounted in a tubular configuration to provide a cigarette-shaped product adapted to dispense nicotine vapor when air is drawn therethrough. The polymeric reservoir of nicotine comprises a polyolefin, preferably polyethylene or polypropylene, which reversibly absorbs nicotine.

  • Patent number: 4676259
Abstract: A nicotine-enhanced smoking article having a first tobacco portion and a second filter portion attached thereto. The filter portion containing filter fibers and a nicotine solution having 5-15%, by weight of total solution, nicotine or a nicotine salt in a solvent. The interaction of the combination products from the first portion with the nicotine solution results in the absorption by the combustion products of nicotine from the solution providing increased nicotine to the user.

  • Patent number: 4655231
Abstract: An improved snuff containing substantially pure powdered salts of nicotine diluted with powdered organic sugars which is substantially absorbed by the nasal membranes when applied thereto. Flavoring and/or coloring agents are optionally present. The improved snuff is prepared by adding an acid to a nicotine solution, separating the nicotine salt from the solution, diluting the nicotine salt to a usable concentration, and optionally adding flavoring and/or coloring agents to enhance the fragrance and appearance of the improved snuff.

  • Patent number: 4284089
Abstract: A simulated smoking device, adapted for non-burning or non-combustion uses, comprises: a container defining a passageway therethrough; a source of vaporizable nicotine in fluid communication; and means for preventing the evaporation of said nicotine during periods of non-use. The source of vaporizable nicotine may be an absorbent material which has a nicotine-bearing material absorbed therein. The absorbent may also have absorbed therein a pH adjustment, water and/or flavoring ingredients. The device, at ambient temperatures and pressures, releases nicotine vapors into air drawn through the passageway of the container during use.
