  • Patent number: 5887509
Abstract: A deep fat fryer includes a housing having a door and a removable access panel that shields a frypot, one or more gas burners and gas and air regulators. A control panel supports user controls and includes vents for channeling air over the user controls during burner operation. A drain valve for emptying the contents of the frypot extends through an orifice in the access panel and has a handle that prevents closure of the door unless the drain valve is fully closed. The blower version of the gas burner includes a removable restrictor plate for determining the heat characteristics thereof.

  • Patent number: 5816455
Abstract: A frozen dessert dispensing apparatus is provided with a metering chamber having a predetermined volume into which a frozen dessert product is issued at a uniform constant rate from a bulk source. The time period required to fill the chamber volume determines a characteristic viscosity value of the dessert product which is advantageously used to time the flow of additional frozen dessert product from the source into and through the chamber to a selected point. The total time required to dispense a desired volume is based upon the viscosity measurement. A reciprocating piston arrangement provides gating of the frozen dessert product from the bulk source when in a first position and further acts to extrude frozen dessert product from the metering chamber when set in motion under the command of a controller. The piston arrangement includes a compressible plunger portion which deforms as necessary to prevent accidents or other mishaps from occurring in pinch-off regions of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5531155
Abstract: Cooking apparatus having an upper cooking platen mounted on a support arm for swinging movement between a lower cook position and a raised position. The upper platen is mounted on the support arm for limited floating movement and upper platen adjusting mechanism is provided which engages the lower platen at a plurality of spaced points and which is adjusted by a single manually operated control. Upper platen lift assist mechanism has pressurized gas cylinders arranged so that the gas cylinders do not exert substantial upward or downward force on the upper platen arm when the upper platen is in a cook position, and assist raising the upper platen when the platen support arm is lifted out of the cook position.
