Abstract: A system for adjusting a stiffness of a fitness machine having a base and a mobile portion that moves during operation. The mobile portion extends longitudinally from front to back, and laterally from left to right. A resilient body resists movement of the mobile portion in a height direction. The resilient body has a length extending perpendicularly to the height direction. The resilient body has a free end that is moveable, where the length increases when the mobile portion moves towards the base. An end stop is configured to limit the free end moving longitudinally and/or laterally to thereby prevent the length from increasing beyond a set maximum. An actuator is operable to move the end stop to adjust the set maximum. A resistance of the resilient body resisting movement of the mobile portion is unaffected by the actuator when the resilient body length is less than the set maximum.

Abstract: A personal hygiene device is provided to assist a user to wipe him or herself, another, or an area of the home. The device contains a gripping head constructed of a flexible material and contains a gripping element, which may hold a wipe within it. The device also contains a rigid housing, and a pump at the opposite end of the gripping head, such that upon actuation of the pump increased fluid pressure inside the gripping head opens the internal grips to an extent that any wipe held therein will be released. In an embodiment of the invention, the housing contains a hinge so the unit may be folded for storage, or extended and locked in place for use.
