  • Patent number: 7989215
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and systems for adding a reagent to an analyte in a gel. The invention further provides methods and systems for transferring liquid analyte reagent mixtures from a gel to a second vessel, such as a microtitre plate. The invention is useful in the manipulation of biological molecules such as nucleic acids, carbohydrates, proteins and peptides. In particular, the invention has utility for manipulating proteins and peptides in isoelectric focusing gels.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 9, 2006
Date of Patent: August 2, 2011
    Assignee: GE Healthcare Bio-Sciences AB
Inventors: Jonas Astrom, Bengt Bjellqvist, Lars Fagerstam, Kristina Uhlen
  • Publication number: 20100213065
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and devices for forming a plurality of wells on a gel containing an analyte. The invention further provides a system for eluting a liquid analyte reagent mixture from a gel. The invention is useful in the separation of biological molecules such as nucleic acids, carbohydrates, proteins and peptides. In particular, the invention has utility for separating and eluting peptides from isoelectric focusing gels.

  • Publication number: 20090114574
Abstract: Provided is an apparatus for automated separation of a target compound from a sample using magnetic particles, which apparatus comprises a pipette head assembly for dispensing liquid through one or more pipette tips attachable thereto to one or more vials and a magnetic rod which is movable within the apparatus to a position adjacent to the one or more vials for attracting the magnetic particles; wherein the pipette head assembly has a pipette tip ejector for ejecting the one or more pipette tips from the pipette head assembly; and wherein the pipette tip ejector is operable by the magnetic rod.

  • Publication number: 20050100878
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the quantitative determination of the amount of one or more biomolecules, such as proteins or polypeptides, in one or more samples by utilising sample unique tagging reagents. More specifically, the method comprises steps of providing at least two samples; reacting biomolecules present in each sample with a sample unique mass tagging reagent to provide sample unique mass tagged forms thereof; combining tagged forms present in each sample to provide a single sample; coseparating, from the resulting sample, a mix of mass tagged forms of each of said biomolecules into different fractions; subjecting, for each fraction, the mix to mass spectrometry to obtain a mass spectrum; and determining from signals in each mass spectrum, the amount of the biomolecule corresponding to the spectrum in at least one of said samples relative to the amount of the same biomolecule in at least one of the remaining samples.
