Abstract: A system and method enable a local area network connected mobile device to discover, via an ancillary wireless communication channel, a local area network connected device and install the appropriate driver and network configuration information when the mobile device and network connected device are brought into physical close proximity with each other.

Abstract: A system and method for accessing a network compatible device utilizing an Internet based beacon technology. A compatible host application can be installed on a client device and registered with a network by providing a user credential and a qualifying descriptor. The network compatible device can be configured to have access with the network in order to extract the information associated with the user accessing the compatible device. A list of users with the matching qualifying descriptor can then be displayed at a user interface associated with the compatible device. Upon authentication, the compatible device and the compatible host application installed on the client device can be connected and the network address associated with the compatible device and the client device can be accessed.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a computerized method and system for implementing a multi-tiered approach to defining printer driver configuration settings. A printer driver configuration management utility allows establishing settings for multiple printer drivers and multiple printing devices with a single multi-tiered configuration file. In a network environment the configuration file is stored in a location accessible by a client prior to utilizing a printer. A single multi-tiered configuration file makes it possible to pre-configure and post-configure multiple printer drivers. Compatible installed printer drivers check for the configuration file and update settings accordingly. Each setting may have rules of behavior such as a default value, enforced default value, value setting lock and disallowance of a value. An alternate value, such as a secondary value, can be deferred to when a primary setting value is not supported for a particular driver.
