  • Publication number: 20160364401
Abstract: Methods, computing systems and computer program products implement embodiments of the present invention that include configuring a storage system to store multiple storage entities for access by one or more host computers in communication with the storage system, and specifying a compression condition including a minimum compression ratio. The storage system can then estimate an expected compression ratio for a given storage entity, compress the given storage entity upon the expected compression ratio meeting the compression condition, and provide, to a given host computer, access to the compressed given storage entity.

  • Publication number: 20160366285
Abstract: A wireless communication device associated with a mobile operator network transmits an authentication request for network access via a wireless access point (AP) using a transceiver other than the cellular network transceiver. Device authentication can occur directly with the mobile operator network or via a proxy server. Upon authentication, the requesting device may access a wide area network in a data off-load operational mode and the data flow to and from the device via the AP is monitored and reported to mobile operator network associated with the requesting device. The wireless communication device can communicate with any of a plurality of APs distributed in a venue during the data off-load operational mode.

  • Publication number: 20160362008
Abstract: A motor vehicle drive system utilizing a flywheel for storing recaptured kinetic energy from a moving vehicle is described. Alternators mounted to the drive train generate electrical power from the passively spinning wheels of a moving vehicle. This power may be used to rotate a flywheel. Energy from the continuously spinning flywheel is used or stored for later use to charge batteries which provide power to the drive wheels of the vehicle. • Publication number: 20160366050
Abstract: A method, operable by a service registry in a service orientated architecture system, for providing a service within the system. A service request is received from a service requester in the system. The status of the service is checked as registered in the service registry. In response to the service not having a registered service endpoint or a property of the service falling below a defined threshold, a request is sent to service providers or subsequent service registries to provide a new service and according to the defined threshold. In response to a service provider providing the new service according to the defined standard, the service registry is updated with the new service and responding to the service requester that the service is available. The embodiments allow both direct interaction between the requester and provider or indirect interaction via a service management layer.

  • Publication number: 20160366268
Abstract: A private message can be delivered by a computer system to a user in an environment, using a display in the environment, a user device, and sensors in the space. The device is detected and connected to a system once it enters a space. A private message is directed to the device and it is received by the system, which notifies the device that the message has been received. The user can then look up at a device to display the message and the system can determine where the user is looking, in order to deliver the message using rapid serial visual presentation to the user on the display device.

  • Publication number: 20160365755
Abstract: A lightweight and efficient electrical machine element including a method of manufacture providing a stator winding for an electric machine which has a large portion of its volume containing electrically conductive strands and a small portion of its volume containing of an encapsulant material. The stator winding includes winding of a first phase by shaping a portion of a bundle of conductive strands into an overlapping, multi-layer arrangement. Winding of successive phases occurs with further bundles of conductor strands around the preceding phases constructed into similar overlapping, multi-layer arrangements. The multiple phases are impregnated with the encapsulant material using dies to press the bundles into a desired form while expelling excess encapsulant prior to the curing of the encapsulant material. The encapsulated winding is removed from the dies after the encapsulant has cured. The encapsulant coating on the strands may be activated using either heat or solvent.

  • Publication number: 20160366120
Abstract: Disclosed are various examples for single-sign on by way of managed mobile devices. For example, an identity provider service can receive a request for an identity assertion from an application executed in a client device. The identity provider service can then detect a platform associated with the client device. A response to the request can be sent based at least in part on the platform, where the response requests authentication by a management credential. Data generated by the management credential is received from the client device, and the management credential is determined to be valid for the identity assertion. The identity assertion is then sent to the client device in response to determining that the management credential is valid for the identity assertion.

  • Publication number: 20160361150
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for sterile delivery of prostheses that protect refined and/or conditioned surface properties and thereby reduce aging of surface properties in prostheses. An example of the system includes a partially custom-shaped holder that also serves as an insertion tool that holds a customized dental prosthesis in a pre-defined position inside a titanium container that is hermetically sealed. Container materials serve as a getter or catalyst with respect to the osseoconductive surface. An example of the method includes laser welding to hermetically seal a metal container as packaging for a prosthesis with a metal foil, and the sterilization of the packaged and sealed prosthesis with dry heat.
