When the input data of two or more input modalities are related, they are combined to interpret an intended meaning of the input. For example, speech when combined with one input gesture has one intended meaning, e.g., convert the speech to verbatim text for consumption by a program, while the exact speech when combined with a different input gesture has a different meaning, e.g., convert the speech to a command that controls the operation of that same program.

The TC-83 VEE-derived ARPs described herein are improved in that they are subject to a lower vector-specific immune response than prior art ARPs.

Abstract: A system includes a transmitting agent configured to select a transport mechanism for transmitting a data item, and a receiving agent configured to select one or more data repositories and a storage process for storing the data item. One storage process includes storing the data item temporarily in the second data repository, and subsequently transferring the data item from the second data repository into the first data repository. Another storage process includes storing the data item into a first data repository without temporarily storing the data item in the second data repository.

Abstract: Methods of treating tissue of a patient, e.g., tissue of an organ such that the bladder, are described. The methods may comprise inserting a medical device within the bladder; and injecting a composition to separate a first layer of tissue from a second layer of tissue. The composition may comprise at least one polysaccharide compound having a concentration ranging from approximately 0.05% to approximately 25% by weight, with respect to the total weight of the composition. The composition may at least partially separate the first layer of tissue from the second layer of tissue. At least one of the first layer of tissue or the second layer of tissue may be a detrusor muscle tissue.

Abstract: A two-way optical communication apparatus includes a transmit element, a receive element and a transceive processor. The transmit and receive elements are coupled to a light pipe, and configured to transmit a first optical signal and receive a second optical signal, respectively. The transceive processor is configured to direct the transmit element to suspend transmitting the first optical signal during reception periods, and direct the receive element to sample for the second optical signal during sampling intervals within the reception periods. Each reception period lasts for a respective duration of time, and occurs in the first optical signal at a respective duty cycle. The receive element is configured to sense an ambient light level of the surrounding environment during the reception periods, and the transceive processor is configured to adjust the durations of time and the duty cycles of the reception periods according to the sensed ambient light level.

Abstract: The formulation of a merged sorted list from multiple input sorted lists in multiple phases using an array pair. Initially, the first array is populated with the input sorted lists. In the first phase, the first and second input sorted lists are merged into a first intermediary merged list within the second array. Each subsequent phase merges a prior intermediary merged list resulting from the prior phase and, a next input sorted list in the first array to generate a next intermediary merged list, or a merged sorted list if there or no further input in the first array. The intermediary merged lists alternate between the first array and the second array from one phase to the next phase.

Abstract: A stylus may include input interfaces that provide a user with additional ways of manipulating an application on a user device beyond touching the stylus to a touch surface. The input interfaces may include a rotary encoder and/or a button. In some embodiments, a single component of the stylus may be usable as both a rotary encoder and a button. The stylus may include a controller able to detect user manipulation of the rotary encoder and/or the button. The controller may include or be communicatively coupled with a wireless interface. In response to user manipulation of the rotary encoder and/or the button, the controller may instruct the wireless interface to transmit an indication of the user manipulation to the user device.

Abstract: The packages described by this invention all have reduced “head space,” that is, the distance from lid to lens. Packages contain dimples to achieve this reduced head space. Specifically, packages are designed with dimple sag equal to or less than 1.90-mm, or volume displaced equal to or less than 360 ?l. Combined with the existing primary packaging, it has been found that such conditions provide for reduction in folded lens rate during shipping and handling. As well, lenses stored or having an extended time in low head space packages in a “foil down” orientation now have characteristics closer lenses stored in a “foil up orientation.

Abstract: The invention generally relates to methods for forming mixed droplets. In certain embodiments, methods of the invention involve forming a droplet, and contacting the droplet with a fluid stream, wherein a portion of the fluid stream integrates with the droplet to form a mixed droplet.

Abstract: Systems, devices and methods are described herein for segmentation of content, and more specifically for segmentation of content in a content management system. In one aspect, a method may include receiving content associated with speech, text, or closed captioning data. The speech, the text, or the closed captioning data may be analyzed to derive at least one of a topic, subject, or event for at least a portion of the content. The content may be divided into two or more content segments based on the analyzing. At least one of the topic, the subject, or the event may be associated with at least one of the two or more content segments based on the analyzing. At least one of the two or more content segments may then be published such that each of the two or more content segments is individually accessible.

Abstract: Novel tissue wound closure devices and applicator instruments are disclosed. The tissue wound closure devices have a filament or strap and a capture device that locks the filament or strap in place after application to approximate a wound in tissue. The applicator instruments have a curved insertion needle.

Abstract: A computer system is provided for exchanging data with a second computer system using a one-way protocol. The computer system includes a communication port, a memory configured to store instructions, and a processor disposed in communication with the memory. The processor upon execution of the instructions is configured to receive via the communication port a plurality of data packets of a data transmission transmitted in accordance with a one-way protocol from the second computer system, the data transmission representing a data structure, each data packet having a header that indicates a data type of the data transmission, and determine if a data packet of the data transmission is missing based on the data type and the number of data packets received.

Abstract: A method of operating a data processing system to generate a diagram indicative of an experimental setup includes a device to be tested (DUT) and a plurality of test instruments is disclosed. The method includes detecting a first test instrument that is connected to the data processing system and determining connection points to the first test instrument. A script that specifies tests for the DUT using the plurality of test instruments and includes instructions specifying measurements to be made by the first test instrument is examined. A first connection between the DUT and the first test instrument is determined. An initial diagram on a display controlled by the data processing system is generated. The initial diagram includes a first node representing the first test instrument, a second node representing the DUT and a line representing the first connection between the first and second nodes.

Abstract: Aggregating input into hashtables using just-in-time compilation of compilable code in response to a database query. Compilable code can be generated that is configured to cause a programmable processor to produce one or more hashmaps based on the input database. The one or more hashmaps can correspond to each individual thread from the input. The compilable code can be configured to cause the one or more processors to insert the hashmaps into a scheduler. Compilable code can be generated that is configured to: aggregate elements from the one or more hashmaps into buckets of elements having the same partition identity; rehash the buckets of elements having the same partition identity to reduce the number of groups within the bucket; facilitate the merger of all non-empty elements from each target-partition into a merged-partition.

Abstract: A fluid dispensing system includes a pump, a valve, and a dispenser disposed downstream of the valve and connected to the valve with a hose. To provide a steady flow rate at the dispenser, the pump charges the fluid to or above the pressure required to achieve a desired flow rate. The valve cycles between open and closed at a fixed frequency. The valve-open time is varied within that frequency to maintain the desired flow rate.

Abstract: As the use of facial biometrics expands in the commercial and government sectors, the need to ensure that human facial examiners use proper procedures to compare facial imagery will grow. Human examiners have examined fingerprint images for many years such that fingerprint examination processes and techniques have reached a point of general acceptance for both commercial and governmental use. The growing deployment and acceptance of facial recognition can be enhanced and solidified if new methods can be used to assist in ensuring and recording that proper examination processes were performed during the human examination of facial imagery.
