Abstract: A biometric in-flight aircraft flight crew authentication system for providing repetitive in-flight authentication of the identity of the individual or individuals at the controls of an aircraft, and, providing communication of failure to authenticate to an appropriate party or parties inside and/or outside of the aircraft allowing them to take in-flight corrective action as necessary The invention also optionally provides communication to an onboard preprogrammed autopilot system (if available) allowing it to disable manual controls and initiate a safe flight pattern until the identity of those at the controls can be authenticated.
