Publication number: 20200302671Abstract: Techniques are provided for hand drawing an animation motion path for an object to follow on a graphical user interface (GUI). The motion path may be drawn with a user's finger or drawing device, such as an Apple PencilĀ®, by selecting a drawing tool (e.g., a freehand tool and/or straight line tool). A new motion path may be added to an existing motion path, such that the new motion path is an extension of the existing motion path. The new motion path may also be added to an end point of an existing motion path, such that the new motion path is a different segment of a motion path and is associated with a new key frame. A motion path segment may be split into additional segments with new key frames, reshaped using editing points, redrawn, and/or deleted from the overall motion path. In some embodiments, the actions applied to the object (e.g., motion path) may be indicated by an associated tray that provides editable context-specific properties related to the action.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 26, 2019Publication date: September 24, 2020Inventors: Ryan John Poling, Steven G. Forrest, Amy W. Hung, Daniel H. Mai, Gary W. Gehiere, Jonathan Cho, Thomas Valentine Frauenhofer

Patent number: 10650184Abstract: The present disclosure relates to linking text boxes and features associated with linked text boxes. A user interface feature in a document authoring application program for creating text boxes may include a text box creation graphical menu item presented on a display of an electronic device. In response to receiving user input indicative of a selection of the text box graphical menu item, the application program is configured to cause the electronic device to render a text box that includes a bounding edge in the document on the display. Additionally, the user interface feature includes a selectable visual indicator displayed as an integral part of the text box. The selectable visual indicator is indicative of a thread of text boxes in which the text box is included.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2018Date of Patent: May 12, 2020Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Katherine Elizabeth Frazer, Allen Wayne Lucas, Jonathan Cho, Michael Scott Lindsey, Kevin R. Publication number: 20200042145Abstract: Adaptive user interfaces and techniques therefor are provided. In accordance with one example, a method includes, at an electronic device having a display: displaying a first user interface comprising a first affordance associated with a first function and a second affordance associated with a second function, and detecting a first event causing the device to transition from the first state to a second state, where the display is deactivated in the second state. The method also includes detecting, while the device is in the second state, a second event causing the device to transition from the second state to a third state, where the display is activated in the third state, and in response to detecting the second event, displaying a second user interface comprising the first affordance displayed in the second user interface at a second location different from the first location, and not comprising the second affordance.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 15, 2019Publication date: February 6, 2020Inventors: Adam P. WILLIAMS, Craig M. FEDERIGHI, Tamara L. ABELL, Jonathan CHO, Jay Christopher CAPELA, Evan TORCHIN, Alexander C. MACLEAN, Per LINDGREN, Gregory Vincent GAUDIO

Publication number: 20150113404Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a virtual staging area for presenting media content. The virtual staging area of some embodiments is formed by staging areas of multiple different devices in which a same set of content can be viewed. To provide a common viewing experience, the staging areas are presented in a similar manner across different types of user devices. Each staging area may be presented as a virtual movie theatre that has movie posters that advertise user content. A sharing service operates on each of the different devices to facilitate the virtual staging area. The sharing service of some embodiments allows a person to choose a piece of content stored on a device. The sharing service then publishes the content to the device's staging area. From there, the content is then distributed across to the person's other devices.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 17, 2013Publication date: April 23, 2015Applicant: Apple Inc.Inventors: Giovanni Agnoli, Keith D. Patent number: 8463872Abstract: A family center system and method is provided that allows receiving from a registered family member a family message intended for other registered family members and determines, based on a set of rules, to which of other registered family members to push the family message, mode of transport by which to push the family message, and the schedule according to which to push the family message. A technique involving a tile is provided that allows displaying a unified view of information onto a plurality of registered devices, regardless of device platform and/or communications network. The system and method provides a variety of services to registered family members and allows third party application plug-in for offering third party services. The system and method receives a SMS message and stores such message as a family message for subsequent access or family message treatment.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2009Date of Patent: June 11, 2013Assignee: Broadsoft Casabi, LLCInventors: Gregory E.
