Abstract: Methods and systems for generating an optimized multi-layer network topology for a set of services. The method comprising generating one or more candidate service path vectors providing a single or multi-layer path for each service; identifying, for each candidate service path vector, a multi-layer topology from a set of network resources to support the paths provided in that candidate service path vector; generating a fitness value, for each candidate service path vector, the fitness value indicating the extent to which the candidate service path vector and the identified multi-layer topology for that candidate service path vector meet one or more constraints; and iteratively evolving the one or more service path vectors until a stop condition is satisfied.
