  • Publication number: 20240108805
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for providing an adjustable flow resistor. The adjustable flow resistor can include a chamber into which fluid is introduced, having an input end and an output end. A flow modifier can be situated within the chamber, between the input end and the output end, to modify a flow rate of the fluid. An adjustable resistance member can be positioned to interact with the flow modifier within the chamber to controllably modify the constant flow rate out of the adjustable flow resistor.

  • Patent number: 10138687
Abstract: A technique facilitates formation of a connection between a first component and a second component. The first component and the second component may each comprise a tubular component. Additionally, the second component is secured to the first component via a coupler which is constructed to establish a hydraulic chamber between the coupler and at least one of the first component and the second component. Application of hydraulic pressure in the hydraulic chamber causes a desired preloading of the first component and the second component across the connection.

  • Publication number: 20050014821
Abstract: Disclosed are improved methods of treating individuals with Alzheimer's disease (AD) as well as methods to diagnose AD in an individual. Also included are compounds and methods of identifying compounds to treat AD. The present invention also discloses methods for decreasing the phosphorylation of amyloid precursor protein (APP), including inhibiting phosphorylation of amino acid residue tyrosine 668 of APP and for reducing cleavage of APP. The present invention further discloses transgenic (Tg), non-human animals and cells expressing a p25 transgene that are models of neurodegenerative diseases. Embodiments of the present invention are directed to methods wherein the Tg animals and Tg cells of the invention are used to screen for modulators of neurodegenerative disorders. The Tg animals and cells of the present invention are useful for elucidating the mechanisms of neurodegenerative disorders.
