Abstract: An implant for metatarsal hemiarthroplasty according to embodiments of the present invention includes a resurfacing body configured to at least partially resurface distal and dorsal surfaces of an articular head of a metatarsus, the resurfacing body including a first side and a second side, the first side configured to articulate against a phalange associated with the metatarsus, the first side including a convex surface formed of ceramic, the second side configured to be fixed to the metatarsus, the second side including a concave surface from which protrude at least two immobilization elements, the at least two immobilization elements configured to interface with the articular head.

Abstract: A suture guide may include a tissue guard and a flanking post disposed to one side of the tissue guard. The flanking post may define a plurality of channels passing through its width. The channels may be so oriented that they define suture needle guide paths in one or more planes that do not intersect the tissue guard.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention relates to an ankle prosthesis. Another embodiment of the present invention relates to a total ankle replacement prosthesis. Another embodiment of the present invention relates to an ankle replacement (partial or total) which is adapted, for example: (a) to treat arthritis of the ankle (e.g., ankle arthritis of any cause: after precious trauma; primary; malalignment induced; after hindfoot fusion; from recurrent ankle instability; rheumatoid or inflammatory arthritis; gout; local growth; dysplasia; growth plate arrest; avascular necrosis; hemophilia; distant septic event); (b) to revise a fused ankle; and/or (c) to treat trauma. The ankle replacement may be carried out by replacing one or more joint surfaces of an ankle joint. Another embodiment of the present invention relates to a method for inserting an ankle prosthesis.
