  • Publication number: 20180324367
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for using NIR illuminators to improve vehicle camera performance in low light scenarios. An example vehicle includes an illumination system, a rear-view camera, a near-infrared (NIR) illuminator integrated with the illumination system, and a control system. The control system is configured for pulsing the NIR illuminator on and off based on a frame rate of the rear-view camera, and processing images captured by the camera while the NIR illuminator is on separately from images captured while the NIR illuminator is off.

  • Patent number: 9998695
Abstract: Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide an automotive imaging system including an electronic image sensor having a sparse color filter array (CFA). The use of a sparse CFA results in: (1) improved image quality; and/or (2) cost savings by enabling use of a less complex, cheaper lens without any or any substantial reduction in image quality.

  • Publication number: 20180099663
Abstract: A host vehicle may include: motor(s), brakes, sensors, processor(s) configured to: (a) predict a target path of a target vehicle based on lane boundaries of a virtual map; (b) compare the target path to a predicted host path of the host vehicle; (c) apply the brakes based on the comparison; (d) predict the target path and the host path as shapes, each having a two-dimensional surface area; (e) determine whether the shapes intersect, and based on the determination, (f) calculate a first timespan where the target vehicle reaches the intersection, and (g) a second timespan where the host vehicle reaches the intersection.
