  • Patent number: 11942880
Abstract: A power tool, such as a drilling power tool, configured to perform an easy hole start operation upon actuation of a trigger. When the trigger is actuated, the motor is driven at a low speed value. The motor speed is increased to a second speed value during a predetermined time threshold and then driven at the second speed value until the trigger is no longer actuated. In some embodiments, the easy hole start operation may be implemented by an easy hole start switch. In some embodiments, if the easy hole start operation persists for a time greater than a predetermined time threshold, then the motor will shut off.

  • Publication number: 20230398614
Abstract: A power tool includes a housing, a trigger, a motor supported within the housing, a saw blade interconnected to the housing by a support arm and drivably coupled to the motor, a main handle integrally formed with the housing, an auxiliary handle coupled to the housing and disposed between the saw blade and the main handle, and a battery receptacle defined by the housing and positioned beneath the main handle. The battery receptacle is configured to receive a battery pack to supply electrical current to the motor. The power tool further includes a splash guard integrally formed with the housing and positioned between the battery receptacle and the saw blade.

  • Publication number: 20230256527
Abstract: A band saw including a housing, a motor, a drive pulley configured to receive torque from the motor, and a plurality of driven pulleys rotatably coupled to a plate, in which the plate is coupled to the housing for sliding movement. The band saw further includes a cavity within the housing and located between the drive pulley and the plurality of driven pulleys and an endless saw blade wrapped around the drive pulley and the plurality of driven pulleys. A first of the driven pulleys is rotatable about a first axis oriented perpendicular to the plate. A second of the driven pulleys is rotatable about a second axis that is obliquely oriented relative to the plate to impart a twisting movement to the saw blade about an oblong path defined by the saw blade, prior to the saw blade passing through the cavity.

  • Publication number: 20220410294
Abstract: A power tool includes a housing, a motor located within the housing, a drive assembly located within the housing and connected to an output of the motor, at least one cutting wheel coupled to the drive assembly, and at least one switch configured to control activation of the motor for directional rotation of the drive assembly in either a forward rotational direction or a reverse rotational direction. The drive assembly is configured to operate in the reverse rotational direction during dry cutting. The drive assembly is configured to operate in the forward rotational direction during wet cutting.

  • Publication number: 20220314426
Abstract: A bit-removal assembly includes a first ring coupled to an output shaft for co-rotation therewith, a second ring supported on the lower retaining ring of the output shaft, a frusto-conical surface on at least one of the first or second rings, and a wedge positioned between the first and second rings and engaging with the frusto-conical surface. A collar defines a cam surface located radially outward of the wedge. The collar is movable between a locked position, in which the cam surface is engaged with the wedge to displace the wedge radially inward on the frusto-conical surface to separate the second ring from the first ring, and a released position, in which the cam surface is misaligned with the wedge to permit the wedge to move radially outward on the frusto-conical surface. A biasing member urges the collar towards the locked position.
