    Abstract: A method and apparatus for administering liquid anesthetics around peripheral nerves, in order to perform surgery or to relieve post operative pain. The apparatus containing a regional anesthetic needle with an overlying catheter. The needle is hollow and has a blunt end so that it does not penetrate or damage a nerve or blood vessel. A stiff catheter covers the needle up to a side hole in the needle that allows liquid anesthetic to be injected through the needle in a forward direction. The needle can be removed leaving catheter in place without disturbing the location of the catheter.
