  • Patent number: 12119144
Abstract: A cable includes a pair of insulated core wires extending parallel to each other, each of the insulated core wires having a central conductor and a core insulation layer wrapped around the central conductor, an inner insulation layer wrapped around the core insulation layers, a metal shielding layer wrapped around the inner insulation layer, an outer insulation layer wrapped around the metal shielding layer, and a single drain wire disposed between the metal shielding layer and the outer insulation layer. The core insulation layers of the pair of insulated core wires abut against each other at a pair of first sides of the core insulation layers facing toward each other. The single drain wire is located at a second side of the core insulation layer of one of the pair of insulated core wires facing away from the other of the pair of insulated core wires in a radial direction.

  • Publication number: 20220375648
Abstract: A ribbon cable includes a plurality of cable groups arranged side by side with a gap between each pair of adjacent cable groups, a first covering film arranged on a first side of the cable groups, and a second covering film arranged on a second side of the cable groups opposite the first covering film. The first covering film has a first bonding portion and a first spacing portion. The second covering film has a second bonding portion and a second spacing portion. The first bonding portion and the second bonding portion are bonded to each of the cable groups. The first spacing portion and the second spacing portion are located at the gap and are separated from each other.

  • Publication number: 20150212267
Abstract: An optical assembly comprising: (a) a substrate having a first planar surface; (b) an optical component connected to the substrate and having a second planar surface parallel to the first surface and at least one first optical axis; (c) a plurality of optical fiber stubs having a certain diameter and being disposed at least partially between the substrate and the optical component; (d) at least one of the substrate or the optical component having one or more grooves on the first or second surfaces, respectively, such that each groove is configured to receive one of the plurality of fiber stubs such that each of the fiber stubs protrudes a first distance from the first or second surface to space the first surface the first distance from the second surface; and (e) a least one optical conduit having a second optical axis, the optical conduit being disposed on the first or second surface such that the second optical axis is optically aligned with the first optical axis.

  • Publication number: 20140272315
Abstract: This invention overcomes the challenge of finding and applying a suitable underfill material in an optical engine by filling the gap between a substrate-mounted optical device (such as a VCSEL/PIN) and a fiber transmitting light to/receiving light from the optical device. The air gap is filled with SU-8 Negative Photoresist (or any material with the same functional and optical characteristics) via spin coating during the wafer processing portion of the engine assembly. The SU-8 material can be used to fill only the area around a 45 degree mirror (i.e., the pit) or can be deployed both in the pit and part of the fiber trench.
