Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing a film, a coating, or a moulded body from yeast biomass, in which the biomass is first disintegrated and homogenized and then further processed into the film, coating, or moulded body. The method is characterized in that an oil-forming yeast, in particular Y. lipolytica, is used as the yeast and the homogenization comprises an enzyme treatment that dissolves the cell wall. The method can be used to produce bio-based and completely biodegradable packaging products that are based solely on renewable and natural raw materials and have good mechanical properties.
